I hate to say it because I spent 10 years in LE and made alot of friends that worked for all the local agencies but, alot of them are lazy and down right afraid to go in and do their job. Not tooting my own horn but, when I wore the badge and was approached by an inmate that told me something was going on, I always followed up on it. Mainly because I was paid to do a job and it was my duty as an officer to serve and protect. Even if it was to serve and protect the lowest of the low lifes in my community. Its officers like you described that give everyone in uniform a bad name. There are far too many people getting hired that only want to wear the uniform, carry the gun and get the benefits of being a police officer. Makes me sick. I'll step off my soap box now.

Sorry about your misfortune E-ville. FWIW, you will want to wash off any egg from your bike. It will discolor anything that is painted. I believe raw egg is acidic.

I always get names and or badge numbers, if I have an interaction like that, pull over and give the dispatcher a call and talk to the shift supervisor or whatever term they use there for the main mofo in charge right then and make sure someone gets an earful. Won't really make a bad cop a good one, but at least gives the Chief some ammo if he is looking at bustin some chops.

In their defense what are the cops gonna do? If they didnt see it, it is your word against the gangsta's. I am not saying that they didnt do it but from a legal standpoint they didnt have much to go on. I agree they should have at least stopped the guys and 'discussed' the situation but that is about all they could do. I guess they could write an incident report, but what good would that do?

Honestly all I was expecting was for them to stop and talk to em about it, maybe look around for a carton of eggs in the open or at least a "we're keeping an eye on you." Instead, they didn't do a damn thing.

Pretty much every town has some sort of "No Loitering" statute on the books that the cops can use to harass problem kids... I know I got run off a few times when I was a deliquent...

Eville, as an LEO for almost 17 years I can tell you that they definately should have spoken to them and made a report. In Texas that could have been considered an assault, granted a simple assault, but assault nonetheless. We have taken reports for water balloons launched from slingshots, reports on patatoe guns. Anything can be a weapon if in its use it was intended as such. Anytime you have a unsatisfactory encounter with an officer you should contact his/her supervisor because many of us care about the image officers like those have on us as a whole. Dont pigeon hole us and say "the whole lot of them", there are good men and women behind the badge and I am very sorry you encountered a couple of lazy worthless ones who obviously dont remember the oath they took or the officer code of ethics. Not that you have a lot of interaction with the police (I dont know, you might...lol) but I sincerely hope the next is much more positive.

I don't know if the law is the same in every state, but in some you can follow through with a "citizen's arrest." In that case, the officers are required to arrest the offenders on your testimony, and the the judge has to figure it all out. Splattered egg might've been enough to convict.
