Well no one know of this cuz you don't live around here but, It is a historical path around the mountains. It dates back to about 1897 for white man but way earlier for Indians. During the Gold Rush of California, The Mother Load etc. there was some folks sniffing around up here. The found and started our own gold runs of Monte Cristo. This can get deep but will talk about the ride.

So I took off on the N/H today to do half of the loop. I've done the whole thing many times in the Cage, once on the DRZ, it's about 150 miles from my house.  I didn't do much picture taking but did stop at what is called Big 4, a place to hike. We have many place's to hike around here, all mountains. The road has some good #'s of twists and fallows the river.. Now that I'm writing this I should have taken more shots, oh well, next time.

This is where the Hotel once stood for folks that came on steam train. One of my passions is to hunt down and explore old mines. There are many in my area, Some bla and some full of stuff left behind some 100 years ago. Was a great ride after so much rain we've had..  Last pic is of Mount Pilchuck and is a great hike to just about a mile high, you can see a longggggggg ways if the air is clean..

I knew them creatures exist!
Do you guys pan for gold? Have you found any valuable veins in those caves?
Where there's quartz, gold ain't far behind!
I just finished 2 yrs. of geology....I got rocks on the brain.

The mountain range from Southern Cal. to Alaska is full of fun.. We've found mines full of TNT still in the holes drilled for blasting and they just left em ???  It's all fun, we love to hike this keeps up away from the crowd. We use old maps, GPS's to find our way.. This site should have a spot for what ever..

Tomb- thanks for sharing your travels.  I like the Flag picture best.

Had a posting glitch dis morning so 3 popped up ???  Heck ya I believe in Big foot, Jesus and UFO's. I've seen and heard some unexplainable stuff in the woods. I even was in a mine, BIG MINE doing some video shooting after work. In the Monte Cristo area,Justice mine. After an hour or so I was coming out and set the video camera down for some snap shots.. Well just behind me a very loud cough, I spun around to no one  yikes

I picked up the camera and zipped out of the adit to see not a sole  puzzled        I hauled butt to my truck, slugged down a few beers and headed out thinking was it true ??? Did I hear that for sure ?? I've read that the cook was shot out side the adit in a scuffle when they had a strike and the workers were not a happy bunch.. He ended up dieing on a train bound for Everett..

I got home, bla bla bla'd the family, plugged in the the video camera and watched the show.... Sure as Honda's run for ever, I captured it on Audio...   Talking to some folks and telling my tail I was told of others that had experiences of noise's in that spot. Voice's, noise of tools being clanged together if you will etc..

So why not,

There is a 15 mile dirt road section in it but I won't take the N/H down that. Do it on the DRZ, me butt was sore when I got home..   I think my next run will be up Hyw 9 to Canada.. I'll post that one up to.. Should be some nice pictures..

Awesome shots.  mol The North Cascades have both great scenery as well as fascinating geology. You picked a great day for a ride. I could see the mountains on Saturday but had to admire them from afar (Husky Stadium for my son's graduation from UW.  claps)

And don't admit anything about Bigfoot. Remember the first rule of the Bigfoot Club.... DirtDOG
