Went out for a ride today. I haven't been out for a while so I was really looking forward to the ride. Checked tire pressure, oil and air in the forks, went to the gas station and filled up, grabbed the camera and I was all set and ready to go. Schedule was clear for once on a Sunday so i was planning on putting a couple hours in the saddle. It was a hot and humid day but the sky's were clear, I had no clue what I was in for. Headed out and about 20 minutes into my ride it started drizzling a little bit and I wasn't sure what to do, continue on and see what happens or head home. Well I decided to continue on for a little while and it started raining a little harder so I then turned around to head home. (I haven't been out in rain on a bike in at least 10 years and I forgot how much I hate it.) So anyway for the first 10 minutes going home it wasn't too bad and then the sky opened up, It was pooring and I was only 10 minutes from home so I decided to press on. It was one of those rains that when your in your car you have the wipers on high and still cant see, any way I did make it home safe but I was soaked from head to toe and It was not fun. Since I was home and had nothing planned I put on some dry cloth's, dried off the bike and decided I'd get a little work done. So I installed a used windshield and engine guards that I picked up from zugzug a little while ago. The windshield was set up for a round headlight, I cut it out to fit the rectangle head light, filed the cut smooth with a fine file and installed some door edge guard around the cut to give it a clean look, I'm pretty happy with how it looks I just have to see how I like riding with it, I've read a lot about buffetting and I'm not sure if I'll like it or not.  Anyway, the day started off crappy and ended up being a productive day. Now I can't wait till next weekend to go out and put some miles on.

Two words...Frogg Toggs.  They are super lightweight and they work very well for something that costs less than $50.  I keep mine in the side bags for just such occasions.

That windshield would have come in handy during the rain.
