Hey guys I was wondering if anybody could explain the process of syncing carbs.  I want to try and do it myself.  I have one of the mercury vacuum gauges and so far from what i have read you attach each hose to each of the 4 holes in the venturi's.  I also am aware that this needs to be done with the bike already warmed up.  The goal of this is to make sure that all the carbs are drawing the same vacuum but I have been unsuccessful in determining what exactly needs to be turned to make an adjustment.

Do you have the service manual? If not, this will be a big help in guiding you through the process. There are adjustment screws on each carb that adjust the butterfly on the intake side of the carbs. You probably have to rig up an alternative fuel supply because you need to have the tank off the bike to access these screws. You adjust the number 1,3, and 4 carbs to the number 2 carb.

The sync screws are the 3 screws between the carbs that move when you turn the throttle . With the engine warmed up hook up the sync tool , then  I adjust the left most sync screw so cylinder 1&2 are the same on the gauge, and then adjust 3&4 so they are the same , and then the middle screw to match 1&2 to 3&4 , then you're done . It's super easy on the 700's you don't even need to remove the gas tank because of how much room they gave you .
