Got a new Samsung cell phone a few days ago, testing the picture quality. Not too bad for a $30 cellphone. Pictures of my bike on the C&O canal in the little old town of Chesapeake City, MD while on my lunch break.    |

I have the first gen Iphone and I find myself not even bothering to pull out my digital camera anymore. I just snap a shot and then email it to myself, then download it to my computer from there.

The cell phone is a Samsung Reality. It cost me $30 at Costco, but I had to agree to a 2-year plan.
When you take a picture, save it in your phone. Select that picture, and select the "Send" option. Type in your email address. You now have a picture in your computer.
If you have a basic plan, you may be charged per MB for uploads. These pictures were downsized to 500K, and I am on a family plan, so it doesn't cost me extra.
Phone has a 3.2MB pixel setup.
Keep in mind, the older phones automatically downsize the photo's resolution when you "send" them. With Verizon's plan, you can upload to your account without downsizing.

The other thing you can do is setup a Photobucket account and then set it up so you email the pictures fromy our phone to the account and it will automatically upload them. It saves the step of saving to your computer and then you can access the pics from any internet connection.

One thing I've learned from fishing in remote areas - when choosing a cell phone carrier, the MOST IMPORTANT thing is "where are you going to use the phone?". If you can't make an emergency phone call, I don't care how cheap the service is or how fancy the free phone is. I actually have a "hybrid" phone. It has Sprint cell service and Nextel walkie-talkie. Suits my needs and works nearly everywhere I go. It did not work at the DG Rally, but I considered that a good thing.  |

Maybe I should change the title of this thread to "Cell phone pics and who has the best cell phone provider?"  Yeah, those of you that live in remote areas don't have much choice. It is like cable TV service...only one provider and you have to put up with them. If it makes you feel any better, ALL of the phone/tv/internet providers in my area have the dumbest customer service assistants. It takes 3-4 tries before someone actually does what they say they will do. |

Never heard of that place. That day (Wednesday) was the first time I rode down there, and pulled over to admire the view for a couple minutes. Moved to DE ten years ago, and I still haven't checked out the Eastern Shore yet. I was actually looking for a supermarket someone told me about, and decided to ride a few more miles to see what's down there, and came upon this town. As for lunches, it is usually Taco Hell, Arbys, and Wendys....  |

The pics were shot on the north side of the C & D (Chesapeake & Delaware) canal in C.C. In the picture of the bridge you can see part of the Schaffer's Canal House. It's been in renovation for many years and I doubt it'll be opening any time soon. They have a few nice places to eat on the south side and the Chesapeake Inn for the night life. Canal Day is coming up sometime soon but beware it gets a "little wild", ok a lot wild!!! There is a lot more to this little town then meets the eye, a lot of history.
