Saturday was one of my best motorcycle rides.  Pants came up to Mena from Lafayette and was determined to do major damage to the Ouachita Mt. roads in AR&OK. We had a fantastic day for riding and my NE Texas crew did about 350 miles(we did almost 200 getting there and back home).  It was one of those days you wish could go on forever.  Here's our crew ready to attack the twisties.

I will continue this later and Pants is enroute home now and will add to this report later.  He took more pics than I did so I can't wait to see his report.  Laters.

This day was all about riding and camaraderie.  Ray(VTX) and Jim/Alabama(Goldwing trike) have ridden together many times over the last 4 years.  We ride year round and rack up alot of miles but we ride our own ride.  They know when the road gets twisty I'm going to separate from them but I slow down and wait for them.  They knew that Pants was fired up to for a thrill ride so Pants and I went in search of corners to carve while Ray and 'Bama took it easy and waited for our lunchtime at the Queen Wilhamena Lodge.

Pants got some great pics of me carving.  I hope some I took of him came out good.  Here's one of Pants from my camera.

I'll only speak for myself here but I know most of you will relate:  I'm an adrenaline junkie to a much lesser degree than I was in my youth.  Pants and I did some serious carving but my self preservation voice kicks in and says you still have to go home to your family.   I think having Pants riding with me spurred me on to ride these roads a bit harder than I normally would.  What a blast.  I didn't get a pic of my tires but looking at them later I saw that I had pushed to the very edge of the tread.  The self pres. voice was not as loud yesterday.

These memories will be around awhile Fish.  The above pic of Pants was on US Hwy 259 in OK.  We made a run of around 10 miles going south, then turned around to hit the best twisties again going north.  Pants was grinning like a Chesshire cat.  We took pics from that spot for awhile and I think Pants would have been happy if we had a gas pump there so we could just ride that spot all day.  4 lanes of high speed sweepers then decreasing radius 2 lane turns was better than any rollercoaster.  BTW, Pants 700 sounds awesome when ripping in full acceleration.  We did almost 100 miles of carving before lunch.  Time for a break.

He was probably wishing we were still carving corners instead of chicken.  This was right b4 we ate in the Lodge.  Lots of storytelling and fun while eating a great meal(Pants took food pics).  Now that it was afternoon the temp had risen to the mid 90's so we rode about 20 miles out of Mena to this.

Pine Ridge, AR(pop. 21).  This store has been in operation since 1909. These guys haven't been there that long.

Alabama trying to cool off.

The smallest post office I have ever seen and still in service.

Pants with Lum&Abner.
More later...

There goes Pants.  As Ray, Bama, and I headed back to Texas, HP went back for another round of rollercoaster rides.
After meeting Pants I wish I could have come to Deals Gap for the 1st NH rally.  I will do that in the future.  Bet I could get a 2nd from Pants to have a future rally in the Ouachita Mts.  This was definitely one of the best days I've ever had on a motorcycle.  Alright Pants, waiting for you to post up your pics/report.

Wish you and some others could have made it.  Awesome mc roads without the hype of the Dragon and other well known roads.  Could be another one in the future.

I still feel like I'm leaning in the high speed sweepers on 259.
