Hey there everyone!

This isn't a huge, continent-spanning trip or even an overnighter.  It is, however, a milestone for me.  This is the first trip on my Nighthawk 750,
and the first time I rode any bike for 100 miles nonstop.  Total trip was 203.2 miles.  I went from Averill Park, NY to Marlborough, NH and back again. I tested my new windshield installation on I-91 for a few miles, absolutely fantastic!  It's such a huge difference from riding on the highway without one!  No problem reaching highway speeds though, having the wind pushing so hard on me.  100% better, and much more comfortable.  Average mileage was 54mpg, trip out was 55mpg, trip back was 53mpg.  This was with regular riding, I wasn't trying to get the best mileage, but whatever I did, not bad for a stock 750!  So, my mediocre ride report aside, here's a few pics...  You can see any or all of them at my photobucket site, including a video of the scenery at Hogback Mountain in Marlboro, Vermont (Not Marlborough, NH).

The Southern Vermont Natural history Museum is located here, check out their site... http://www.vermontmuseum.org/default.htm

Stopped in Bennington, VT at the Stewart's there for gas and a "pit stop". Then back on the road. Sorry no pics...

Next stop, Marlboro, VT, home of Hogback Mountain scenic overlook...

pulled in before me...

My Nighthawk & a 200 mile view... sweet!

My Nighthawk, and ME, and a 200 mile view... even better!
My thanks to the nice guy on the Honda Dual-Sport that pulled in just
after I did, and agreed to take my tourista photo! (note, I do have two hands!  The sleeves of the jacket are long! lol!  Just saying...)

Here's the requisite "tourist trap", where you can buy a rubber tomahawk, maple candy and manner of useless junk...  Some folks like it, though...
I must say, Maple Candy is sweeet!

Sorry, no pic of the Natural History Museum, but I did give ya a link to the website!  Enjoy!

Turning Point...
Marlborough, NH, 100 miles from home.  This gas station is exactly 100 miles from the station I filled up at in Averill Park, wasn't that smart of them to build it here?  $3.599 a gallon for the regular here... (19 cents cheaper than in NY!)  Fill'er Up!

This gas station is 100% cashless, and automated.  Not hard, of course. It's open 24/7, so keep it in mind for your next late night trip through Marlborough!  It could save ya!

Here's the Nighthawk next to the huge sign that says "No attendant on duty, credit or debit card only"...

Well, that's pretty much it for pics of this trip.  As I said, the return was a test of my mettle, I wanted to see if I was blowing hot air, when I started posting stuff like, "I could really eat up the miles on this baby!" and such... Well, I CAN!  100 miles at a time, anyway!  More trips to come!Hope you enjoyed this little one!.

See all the pics at...

Sounds like you had fun...that's what it's all about!   thumb

What kind of windshield is that?  I'm considering something like it for mine.  Thanks!

Great report.  Like Deadly requested earlier,  I would like to see more reports from the growing number of NH forum members.  Keep 'em coming.

It's from National Cycle, the part # is N2594 or N2595, I believe. Pretty easy to install.  Hardly took any time at all.  Easy to adjust.  Makes a WORLD of difference on the highway!  Glad you like it!  It's smoke tinted, by the way, I'mthinking of a clear one later so when I mount a camera it will be a better shot...

Thanks!  Glad you like it!  More to come!  As I post more, you'll probably notice it looks more and more like Deadly's NH all the time!  I'm morphing it into a Wee Hawk! lol!

Here's a map of the ride, and below, the towns matched up with the letters...

A- Averill Park, NY
B- Bennington, VT
C- Marlboro, VT (Hogback Mtn)
D- Brattleboro, VT
E- Keene, NH
F- Marlborough, NH

CHECK OUT THE SHORT VIDEO I JUST POSTED FROM THE OVERLOOK AT HOGBACK MTN!

Hey Fester, you're REAL close to Mt. Greylock, another of my favorite mountain roads!  It's being rebuilt right now, but when it opens again next year it should be better than ever.  You'll like it...there are exactly NO precarious dropoffs   yikes  and it's mostly in the woods.  There's a nice visitor center at the top with a tower you can climb for a better view.  Oh, and it's the highest place in Massachusetts.  It's well worth the trip!

Hogback Mountain, that sounds like something one would expect to find in the Ozarks where I grew up (kind of reminds me of home).  I enjoyed the report and look forward to seeing your bike mods in the future.    thumb
