Hi, little intro on me, One of my hobbies is rebuilding older bikes... I did a few yamaha's but hated most of them.. LOL tried a few hondas, love them :)
here's a list of the bikes i've had: honda cl350 '66, was nice, original owner literally crossed it around the world, 70 000miles on it. still started/ran perfect yamaha xs400j '84 cute bike, but guttless, was reliable, and quite fast. yamaha xs400rj '84 twice faster then the xs400j.. but literally no parts for it. was a nightmare... evil gauges !! honda vf1100c '85 super nice ride, but too heavy for me, and too much power for in town.
now current project: cb750sc 84. so far, loving every second I drive it.
anyways, picked up 2 more of the same thing for the parts and plan to rebuild it over the coming months/year to super condition.
I guess its a typical problem with those year.. but all 3 bikes flashers are shot/ripped off. so i installed some aftermarket ones, smaller. At first, had trouble with the relay, either tripping to fast or not tripping at all. replaced the relay for the other kind ( I have both types of relays for this bike ) the more expensive one ( smaller black one ) works perfect with a 8/23w bulb.
I also replaced the speedo gear inside the front wheel, also replaced the rear handrail and fender. tons of stuff left to do.. he he.
I am missing the right side plastic cover.. can't seem to find one yet! anyone has one ?? ;)
I'm in the Ottawa/Gatineau Area. cheers, ~LiVeR~

Hi LiVeR and I'm in the Ottawa/Gatineau Area.
As you can see I have a CB750sc too and I live in Kingston, ON. If you are up for a ride sometime, let me know? Another member on here, ak85lp is from the Ottawa area too. Sometimes we meet up in SmithsFalls and go for a ride around some cottage country...Perth, Westport, etc. Let me know?

I do have 2 right side covers, one of them is cracked in 1/2 and all pins missing. the other is intact, but pins missing. I know I could trim the pins from a left side cover and glue them on.. but would it really hold ? I still dont know what type of plastic it is, so no idea which glue to use to bind the pins properly.

Oh.. and might take you up on that ride one day for sure :) I love Perth and Westport, We go there a few times every summer. I love that village green store and the little shops around town. We usually stop in Perth around that corner where the water is for a snack.
Fun ride too on the 7.
cheers !

Also, I seen a red cb750sc thinking its an 84-85 from the engine color in Aylmer Qc. it passed along on Vanier St. last week. and a friend of mine also seen him too around the same area. wish i could talk to him.
I also met a guy in Hull Qc. that has a Blue cb750sc.. I picked up a used electrical regulator from him for mine.

You're in the same boat as me... I originally purchased 1 a couple summers ago in Oshawa. Then I purchased two more parts bikes from the Ottawa area. I was originally going to make 2 good bikes, but insurance is too much to have two on the road at the same time. So I just used the best parts to make 1 good one and now have many spare parts.

he he nice :) ya.. its the first bike I own that I've been able to pick up other wrecks for cheap.. its soo much easier to repair something when the parts for it are just a few feet away :)
I had a prob with the bike on Friday.. just a glitch.. but I found the problem. drove to a paint store in the afternoon, and when I came out.. it wouldn't crank, but the starter button is working as the lights would dimm slithly. so I played with the starter's coil ( round silver thingy over the battery ) and tada.. cranked and started. looking at the connector closer, it looks like its rusted/oxidized. will be replacing that connector shortly too.
my main bike was also dropped from every side possible known to man.. and possibly ghost rided.. so the front cowl is in horrible shape. I'll also swap this out shortly.

What you guys think about painting the original exhaust flat black ? I have an aftermarket exhaust on it now..but its pretty much rusted I think.. and I have a set of the originals in great shape.. just discolored and some light scratches.. I was thinking VHT on them.

Flat black would like fine on the stock exhaust. Question though: If it has aftermarket pipes on it now, then does it have a jet kit in it too? What about the air filter...is it stock?
You might be able to find a new windscreen on eBay. There was one guy at one point selling replica's on eBay. Not sure if they are still available? No spares on the parts bike?
If the forks are pitted bad and the pitting is in the area that the fork travels, then the new seals will start leaking again. Are any of the other forks in better shape? or have less pitting?

the aftermarket pipes are 4-in-1 and the exhaust says something about sport. I dont believe its been jetted.. but haven't taken the carbs out on this one. the air filter is a K&N which was another surprise to me when I did my first tune-up.
as for the forks, the other 2 bikes have good forks ;)
as for the flat black, I think thats what I'll do, if I can, I'd love to put the old exhaust back on, the current one is quite loud... but very lightweight compared to the stock one. but the pipes are rusty and definitely not of the same quality as the originals.
i'll go check ebay for the windscreens. the others I have are fine... just scratched and faded.

If its running a pipe and K+N, then I pretty much guarantee its been jetted. If not, then you wouldn't be able to rev it past 5000 RPM because it would be running so lean it would fall very flat in the mid range and top end. You can polish your old windscreens. Lightly wet sand them with 2000 grit sand paper (be careful not to touch the painted black trim along the bottom). Then use some of this stuff... As for the forks...if you have good one's on you spare bikes, then I would go with them.

thanks, as for the jetting.. ok then, must be jetted.. I can go all the way to 9k no hesitations. discovered a leak on the gas line.. so gotta repair this. thinking of simply getting a role of gas line.. seems i'm repairing this all the time on older bikes and its usually always the same size.. princess auto should have this stuff I guess. I'll try to buff one of the windshields when i get some spare time. cheers ! If its running a pipe and K+N, then I pretty much guarantee its been jetted.
