Saturday, June 26 was the first ride I was able to take with my dad and step-mom. Sadly, I was in town to see my mom in the hospital, she is doing better and should be getting out today.
I was on my '91 'Hawk following my dad's '08 'Wing. I got a LOT of strange looks with me in full gear and most everyone else in Florida wearing next to nothing, including no helmets. We first started on A1A in O'Neal, FL and headed on to Amelia Island where the city of Fernandina Beach is.
In the distance is the Thomas J Shave bridge that crosses the Intercoastal Waterway and on to the island:

Amelia Island has several canopy roads, this is the oldest most beautiful:

Rounding the south end of the island to cross the Nassau Sound:

Bridges and barrier islands leading up to the Mayport Ferry that connects Fort Geroge Island with Mayport:

Motorcycles get to jump to the front of the line when waiting on the Mayport Ferry:

My parents and our bikes on the ferry:

I swear I'm happier than I appear in this shot, the sun was making me grimace:

I will spare you the photos of Jacksonville Beach. Not much to see there other than strip malls and traffic. These are shot between Ponte Vedra Beach and St. Augustine:

Pulling in to St. Augustine, the oldest city in the US:

Castillo de San Marcos:

Downtown St. Augustine:

We got stuck by the Bridge of Lions drawbridge. It was so hot out, I had to kill my little (compared to the GW) air cooled engine:

My 'rents as we head out of St. Auggie:

From St. Auggie to Flagler Beach:

Sometimes we would have the Atlantic Ocean on our left and the Intercoastal on our right at the same time:

We stopped in Flagler Beach to stretch our legs on the pier and enjoy some scenery:

This bike's owner wanted to talk our ears off about how he would never buy a new Goldwing but yet he paid 45k for this. Shame he can't even drive it out of town because it is too uncomfortable:

Fishers on the pier:

Birds erupted from my head:

Daytona Beach:

Different views of the same route home:

The pier entrance:

Intercoastal on our left this time:

Wouldn't you like to live here!

St. Augustine Lighthouse:

Bridge of Lions:

Leaving St. Augustine:

We decided to skip the ferry on the way home and instead took the Dame's Point suspension bridge in Jacksonville, FL:

At the end of our ride, we had to run through this storm. It was rather refreshing after sweating all day:

Well, that's my home town. Was nice to cruise it with my dad.
