Woke up this morning and hit the road.  I needed to clear out of the house so I told Serena I'm heading to Madison.  Madison is our state's capitol and it is about 90 miles away by interstate but I decided to take some old country highways instead.  Now for the uninitiated Madison is a twisted vortex of roads that no sense of logic has yet to figure out how to navigate.  You have roads that simply end and the name changes, many one ways, pedestrian only streets and the capitol building itself which is at the center is the exact same design on all four sides so you never know what direction you are facing.  Other than that it is fun to visit because it is a vibrant city great for walking around, visiting any of the three lakes that surround it or to go to some of the best brew pubs on the planet... which turned out to be my destination, the Great Dane Brew Pub.

Lost on HWY B, or is it BB, or AB... the google map I have doesn't seem too accurate.

Back on track and cruising on HWY B.  Stopped by this beautiful river.

This is a private track belonging to the Aztalan Motorcycle Club.  I got lucky and caught some riders practicing.

Barns and bikes just seem to go together.

Time for lunch at the Great Dane Pub, I give it five stars.

Chicken quesadilla with BBQ sauce, black beans and rice, so gooooood!

The Wisconsin State Capitol Building.

I did finally make it out of the web of streets for my ride home though I did get sucked back to the city center once.  It's truly amazing, I swear I was riding out of town and I come over a hill and BLAM right back towards the Capitol building.  It never fails, like the Eagles sang, "you can check out anytime but you can never leave.".  All told I travelled about 200 miles today.

Very scenic there in Wisconsin Fish2.

I see the appetizer, where's the main course?

Was expecting you to toss in the 40 story building on one of the pics.

Fish1, I've got this pic...

But I shot that last year so I didn't think I could use it for photo tag.

You mean there were no 40 story buildings in Madison today, or were you just on a sanity ride?

Hey that's a double.....fountain too!

I don't know where Laminar dreams up these ideas anyway....

Honest of you to not cheat, shows good charactor.

I'm working from home these days and we had some workers coming over to the house and I needed to clear out.  Madison seemed like a good destination for the scoot as the Hawk is temporarily out of service.

This is what happens when a city of 200,000 people grows up around an isthmus (a small strip of land between 2 bodies of water)...and then you decide the state capitol needs to be at the very heart of it all, and all roads should lead there.

If only I had known a fellow NH-er was in the area, we could have done lunch. I rode my bike that day and my lunch plans fell through. Next time you're coming over, PM me and we can arrange a meet or a ride.

Good to know bajakirch, it was a last minute idea to head out to Madison.  I'll let you know the next time in that area and you let me know if you head out towards Milwaukee.  Maybe you JB and I can all head out for a ride.
