I'm finally getting around to posting a picture of my Nighthawk. I've made a couple of post in the general discussion area. My son had this bike for a few years but didn't ride much. He lives in Columbus, Ohio in a heavy traffic area and I think that was the reason. Seems to be in good shape, just a couple of minor problems, fuel gage works sometimes, needs a little "choke" to idle, turn signals work but need some fixing, stuff like that. I checked carb balance with merc sticks and they are good. Ran some Seafoam thru tank and it is helping the idle. This is my first street bike in over 30 years and I am having a good time on it. Lots of good advice on this forum for an old fart newbe. Thanks to all.

Looks pretty nice.  Solid black with the silver sticker gives it a very clean and subtle look.

When I revitalized my bike (after sitting for years), it took a tank or two before the Seafoam really kicked in.  It was an amazing difference, and happened all at once.  I'm guessing something that had built up was finally dislodged.  In any case, I now swear by the stuff, and will use it in all of my vehicles.  In fact, I just put a little in my leaf blower a couple of weekends ago, and it helped clean up that fuel system too.

Not sure about the fuel gauge.  It could be that the inside of the tank has some rust, and it's affecting the float.  It may start working better on its own, but if not, you should be able to pull it out of the tank and clean it up.
