Yesterday I had to run into Philly to the union hall and pay my dues for the rest of the year. Since I was going into town alone I figured I ride in on the 650 and take some pics for the photo tag game and a few for a ride report. I am born and raised in Philadelphia but now live in a near by suburb. Philly has some nice places to see and cool things to do. So here are some pics I took, Hope you enjoy them.

On the way into town I stopped along Kelly drive a took a pick of the back side of boat house row. The view of boat house row is awesome from the other side of the river especially at night but my time was limited.

After that I headed over to the Philadelphia Art museum. This pic is from the side of the Museum.

From here you can see the funny shaped building in the distance called the Cira Center. It is an office building with some crazy shapes and lines, it actually looks like is leaning to the side. Ive done quite a bit of work in that building.

I then rode around to the front of the Art Museum and took some more pics. The front steps are the steps that Rocky ran up, which is why the rocky statue is now located next to the art museum.

From there I headed over to the Union hall to take care of my union dues, I stopped to take a few more pics while in route. Here is a pic of the city skyline from a near by park.

A stainless steel airplane outside of the Franklin Institute.

A look down the Ben Franklin Parkway and City Hall with Ben himself atop the building.

Stopped by love park for another quick pic, Gotta love the Reggie White jersey.

From there its off to the sports complex to get my pics for the phototag game. First Stop, The Spectrum. I have lots of great memories at the spectrum. Of course the 73/74 and 74/75 Flyers won the cup here. I went to many Flyers Games here with my dad when I was a little guy. The building is going to be torn down soon to make room for some sort of super entertainment complex.

This Statue of the Great Dr. J is out side of the Spectrum.

From here you can see Citizens Bank Park which is where the Phillies play. It's is a great place to see a game. I highly recommend seeing a game here if your in town.

On the way over to Citizens Bank park I stopped by the old statue that used to be outside of Veterans Stadium (The Vet). Now it is in front of one of the parking lot entrances for the park.

Now over to Citizens Bank Park.

The Mike Schmidt statue at the 3rd base entrance.

Now over to Lincoln Financial Field (The Link) Where the Eagles play.

Last but not least, over to the Wachovia Center where the Flyers play.

So there you have it, my short little trip through Philly. There is so much more to see and do, but this is all I could cover in a couple hours.

Nice pics. Looks like you had a good day.

I used to travel to Philly and do business with the Sunoco Oil refineries. Once in a while I'd stop at a little sub shop somewhere around Marcus Hook and it never ceased to amaze me at the amount of steak they would have cooking on that grill at one time.

Didn't know they were going to raze the Spectrum. Saw Elton John there in the late 70's and when he sang "Philadelphia Freedom" I was pretty sure the whole building was going to come falling down.  Hap1

great report - thanks for sharing with us.

Mike Schmitt was one of my favorite ball players growing up.

My favorite picture was the one with your bike in front of the Museum with the Renroir sign.

Are those Philly Cheese Sandwitches really everything they are cracked up to be?

That picture with you parked in the middle of the road is bold. I'd probably get a ticket if I tried that.  giggle

I was short on time and could not stop for lunch. Next time I stop for a steak I'll take pics, IOU. And yes they are that good. Geno's, Pat's or Steve's are my favorites.

Schmitty was the man, played hard every day, didn't pull no punch's. Always said what was on his mind, I like that.

Nice photos of your city hockeyhawk.  Philly is one of the cities I would like to see a football game...  also would like a Philly cheese steak sandwich.

You guys asked so here it is. I worked in town today and Jim's steaks is in the food court at the comcast building and I had lunch there today. Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture, but the sandwich was awesome.

American cheese, fried onions, hot peppers.

I can see the scene at the food court; some guy buys a philly cheese steak and sits down at a table there, then he opens it up and takes a picture of it. The guy at the next table is thinking "what is up with this weirdo." Little did the the other guy know that there are many on the NHF waiting for their "food fix."  Hap1

That is a good looking sandwitch - I'd prolly pass on the peppers, but it looks delicious.  I saw a TV show on America's best sandwitches, and I believe they spotlighted Geno's.

Now that's a good looking sandwich.  I'll keep the peppers on mine.
