I bought a new 1991 NH 750 in 91 and put a set of highway pegs on it that simply bolt on the the lower engine mount. I was riding it and it started cutting out at times but would run great the rest of the time. Took it to the dealer with less than 1000 miles on it they checked everything and could not get it to do it. I was getting pi$$ed. My buddy took it for a ride and came back laughing. He said hit 60 mph hold it steady and put your feet up on the highway pegs when you  feel it cut out (loose power) put your feet back on pegs. Sure enough when you put your feet up on the pegs it does something to the air flow to the air box that makes it run like crap. I have recently bought a very nice, low mileage 1998 NH 750 and it is doing the same  thing that the  old one did. Really stinks.

Has anybody else noticed this, and figured out what to do??????

I have the crash bar mounted HWY pegs and it runs fine with my feet up. I have them mounted as high as possible on the crash bars. Make sure nothing is obstructing the air box. I'm thinking the top intake on the air box.

I've heard of this kind of thing when people put pods on the bikes. But never heard of it when running a stock airbox. Not really sure what the solution is. Maybe see if there's a way to fab something to move the pegs out an inch or so to see if that helps.

When you put both feet on the pegs, your legs are blocking the airflow.  Your pegs must be about the same position as mine.  I just put up one leg at a time and it runs fine.

I only had mine on long enough for a short ride..never  noticed a problem with performance? My problem was reaching the pegs with my shorty legs!
Maybe Rusty is having better  luck with them!

With the crash bar pegs I was fine also... maybe you have some size 18 feet or something?  Hehehe.... just kidding, I have no useful input.   banana

It does seem to help if I hold them up higher, so I will have to modify the mounts. Bad thing is I like them where they are.

Thanks guys.
