Today I was leaving work and took a left turn onto a heavily traveled street. Because it was so busy, I had to goose it pretty good to hit a break in traffic. I revved 1st gear up to about 7k pretty fast during my turn, then hit 2nd --
-- and the GD front tire lifted off the ground! WTF!

There is no way I would have thought that my 27-year-old bike still had it in her.
Now, in full disclosure, I have to admit that I was wearing my backpack, it was stuffed pretty full, and it was resting on the seat behind me. This probably added a good 20 lbs to the back end of my bike.
Still, it seems weird that the tire would lift in the middle of a turn like that. I'm the farthest thing from a trick rider -- is it somehow easier to lift the tire when you're turning like that?
