Very nice! Looks ready for some long miles. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

JB1290,
I paid $2900 for it. I thought that was a descent price for it. Especially since he put over $300 when installed the tip over bars.

Love the Connie, yours is not the stock '99 paint color, it's even better!

I got mine new in '06 and it has 54,000 miles. Just got back from a Concours rally in Wisconsin, the Connie is a regular war horse!

Mine's not stock color either, I did this paint myself so it's not perfect but I like it:

Seems like everyone but hppants has a sport touring stablemate.

Nice ride.

I am pretty sure the bike has not been repainted. Near as I can tell from talking to the PO that's the color from the factory.

The 1999 Concours was only offered in one color: burgundy (technically called "wineberry" by the factory.)
The only years of blue Concours were 2001 (very bright "sonic" blue, similar to your shade but even brighter), and 2006 (navy blue).
Yours is a repaint like mine, and it looks much better than mine too... Sad
Mine wasn't wrecked or anything, I just didn't like the stock '05 color, a dark beige/gold.

There's always a chance the PO got a complete paint set from another year....

There is one big issue with the Connie you should know about, because of fuel additives used since the bike's design, there is a possibility of hydrolock. It is easy to prevent and there are several ways to make sure it never happens.
There is great info on the bike and 20 years' worth of expertise at both:

www.concours.org
and
www.cog-online.org.

The websites are open to everyone to use even if they are not a COG member, but most of us belong to COG; it's a worthwhile organization.

Hey coffee_brake,
Thanks for the info. I had no idea the bike would have been anything but blue. If it was repainted it was done professionally cause it looks like new.

Meh, paint color is nothing really, I like your blue better than burgundy by a long shot.

You've probably already found out how odd the Connie handles at parking lot speeds, those tipover bars are very good to have while you get used to it! I practice with mine a lot, and find that idling around at slow speeds is easier in second gear.

Don't let the size and heft of the bike fool you; it's no modern blazing fast sport-tourer but instead is a strong comfortable 80's machine that you can work on yourself, and they last as long as you take care of them.
And, they are often rebuilt, bored out, lots of engine mods are done to these, they lend themselves to a great deal of modifications inside and out.
I love mine because, after having a bike with computers that I couldn't work on myself and it cost an arm and a leg to take it in to the shop (BMW), I can do everything to my Connie by myself.

I couldn't agree more the color does not matter as much as over all condition. The connie is very nimble at slow and fast speeds for me. I have gone to parking lots and have done some slow speed turns and was very impressed. The bike I had before the connie was a Yamaha RSV. Now that was a 900 lb behemoth that makes the connie a nimble ummm sports bike to me.
