OK, short of shaving myself bald (Mother Nature's already pushing me that way, no need to speed up the process), is there ANY way to avoid helmet hair? I keep my hair short, but even so I sometimes take my helmet off after the morning commute and it looks like I just rolled out of bed.

You're just going bald, get used to it...I have. Low maintenance and aerodynamic!

I use a helmet liner and a modular helmet. The liner has a satin liner that doesn't grab hair; the flip-face helmet allows you to sort of 'roll' the helmet on. This tends to result in more of a plastered-down look, but I start with damp hair and a bit of goop in the morning.

I know alot of people just put a bandanna on their head, but that has varying degrees of effectiveness. Personally I've found that the best method is simply not giving a rip. I ride almost every day to school, there are LOTS of pretty girls there, but luckily for me I'm taken so I have nobody to impress. It's mind over matter man, "if you don't mind, it won't matter". Besides anybody worth talking to will instantly recognize and respect your "hair by honda".

Brush or comb your hair as soon as you remove your helmet. I have found that it helps at least at little.

I'm not bald, just after 15 years in the military, short hair has become ingrained in my habits I guess. I have always worn a dew-rag under my helmet, usually just wear that after I take the helmet off. When I had longer hair, I carried a comb and would use it as soon as I took the helmet off.

I keep my hair fairly short, and just run my fingers through my hair and I'm good.

SOQS thinks I have "Elvis Hair" after a ride... I think she likes it. Objection!!! I submit to the jury forum's evidence "Exhibit A" A classic case of good helmet hair if there ever was one! DisclaimerMere mortals should not attempt this at home...

I've been a little lazy lately and when I got to work this morning I saw that I had helmet hair. Time to bust out the clippers tonight.

I have a silk scarf I tie on mine, but that might not work for you. Works well though, safety orange and flaps like a flag out behind, and the tails are long enough to scrub the bug guts off my visor with.
