I need to get to 25 posts before the classified section will allow me to post. This sweet ride will be posted here FOR SALE as soon as I get to 25 posts.

For now, here's a video teaser I took this evening (8/12/2010):

Nice looking Nighthawk  thumb

Why are you selling it? What are you replacing it with?

The Nighthawk is great. I grew up on dirt bikes from 8 - 18, then bought the Nighthawk in May 2009. I've put 2,750 miles on it. Problem is, my wife freaked when I told her I was getting a motorcycle. I had wanted a CBR originally but she threatened divorce if I got a "crotch rocket." I spent a month researching bikes on totalmotorcycle.com and landed on the Nighthawk based on looks, reviews, my budget, and something that "wasn't a crotch rocket." Fast forward one year and I've proven to my wife that I know what I'm doing and am a safe rider. When the deal on my co-worker's bike came along I couldn't pass it up.

My co-worker practically gave me his 2001 CBR600 F4i. $700. It has 3,800 miles.

He let it sit for the last two years in his garage with gas in the tank. Tank is rusted. Honda dealership quoted him $2,300 for parts & labor (new fuel system - fuel pump, fuel injectors, fuel tank, filter, etc.).

My brother and a good friend are both mechanics. They said the dealer was just high-balling him for money & the easy fix. Said it likely only needs the tank cleaned & re-lined, fuel pump cleaned & new filter, put an in-line filter in to catch the rust I don't get, and fuel injectors cleaned. Total cost for me parts & labor will be about $200. Bike is worth $3,000+ in good running condition.

Here are some pics of "the other woman."  winker

Yeah, I know. My wife won't let me have two. She threatened divorce over one bike.

Wow $1000 total investment for that...I'd buy it for MY wife.  She really likes the F4i. burnout

I know. It looks brand spanking new - until you look in the gast tank.

I took the tank off and have started the process of cleaning, de-rusting, and re-lining.

Here are a few fuel pump and tank pics (the fuel pump is inside the tank, mounted to the bottom):

Fuel pump before
Fuel pump after
Tank (inside) before
Tank (inside) after 1st light cleaning

I'm soaking the tank overnight in Kreem Tank Prep A. It already looks 100 times better than the "after" picture below.

tell your wife the second bike will lower your insurance it will, you can only ride one at a time,

keep the n/h really why because onceyou ridethe rocket you will nbe uncomfortable your back will ache but you will be at thespeedof sound so you will forgive it, but there will be days when your back cant take it, and then the n/h will shine. to sell the wife on the idea, say its our bike and take her for a long country drive and do her in the woods with passion lmao

trust me you will have both bikes

uhh... dude... that is either really dirty, or I severly misread you post.

memphis, what part do you hail from?  I lived in midtown (right next to the zoo) for several years.

also, +1 to keeping both bikes.  the f4i is sweet and you got a great deal, but that NH is super clean and worth keeping!

+1 on keeping both myself!  Hap1

I'm finishing the tank re-lining tonight. I'll post the 3rd picture after the de-rusting soak. I looked at it this morning and it looks great. If de-rusting/re-lining the tank, cleaning the fuel pump, replacing the fuel filter, and cleaning the fuel injectors works I will have spent < $900 on the F4i ($700 purchase and $200 in parts) and will likely be able to keep both. If not, I'll have to sell the NH to pay for add'l F4i work.

I'm in East Memphis - Ridgeway/Poplar Pike. How's SC?
