Working on getting this recent '82 650 purchase road-ready, doing some paint experimenting to see what I like.  I DEFINITELY like it better without the stripes!  I think I like just plain 'ol black (without the metallic) better too.  Basic black just looks so natural on a bike.

The original paint/decal scheme:

Yeah...hold the stripes (and the flakes)!

Oh yeah and just to answer the inevitable question...yes this is just parts store cheap-o spray can paint (and my does that stuff ever suck!).  I wanted to be sure I liked the color scheme before buying the good expensive stuff...and to make sure that all the dent filling came out ok as I really don't have a lot of paint/body experience. (more like none  lol )

Up close and in person you can see all of the rookie mistakes.  But thanks!

Well I guess you'll just have to ride it fast.... burnout

That's what we call a 20/20 paint job....It looks good either from 20 feet away or going by at 20 mph!  rollinglaugh

Yeah depending on the lighting...might get away with 10 on a cloudy day!  hahah

Really my main goal was to make sure none of the dent repairs showed up with the black paint.  I plan to repaint everything "right" over the winter.  For now I just wanna ride the damn thing!   claps

It's getting there Bill.   I do dig the black.  So, how long until we get to stretch her legs up towards Pikes Peak?

Hey Scott!  I dunno the chain situation is not looking very promising, I may have to get a new one.  I'm hoping to have the engine started up today though.

The basic black is a classic, you can't go wrong with that.  Looks good.

I do like the stripes and metallic paint...  colors are very subjective.
