This is the first bike I've owned and I love it!  Paid $1100, bought a new set of tires, and haven't had a problem since.  34,000 miles and still going!  I can't wait to take it on a road trip during the winter!

Man, that is one sweet looking 82, It's nice seeing all these bikes with new owners popping up. It's nice to see them being used rather than sitting around. And  welcome

Thanks everybody!  Not to sure where I'm going to end up yet, where-ever my tent/hammock will rest me!  I'll be starting in CT hopefully soon and my first stop is Asheville, NC.  From there where-ever the warm current takes me.

Thanks for the replies!  I went with Dunlops by recommendation; they take corners well.  By the way had my first encounter with peg scrapping today, nearly wet my pants but followed through with it!

Welcome. I've got an '83 750SC looks almost identical to yours. Or at least it did new, haha! I'm in the process of restoring it. Yours looks great, a true survivor that's in outstanding condition.

I'm always up for some pics of a nice rack.  naughty Come on and flash 'em!! aparat

Seriously, your fellow 1982 750SC owners would love to see your setup. Our options for racks are pretty slim, mainly a lucky Ebay strike. Would the local village smithy be interested in doing a production run if there was interest by forum members?

I don't think he takes his work mobile but here is his info!  He loves doing custom work with metal and charges a very fair price for a dying trade.

Hey, guys. Was looking around and found this forum. So I'm not the only one with a '82 750 Nighthawk! I'm an old fart with an old bike. Had to throw a pic up. I bought this new but it's been parked [untouched/indoors] for the past 15 years. I pulled it outside in July, washed off the dirt and took this pic [rust and all]. Took my 'resurrection ride' 9/1/10 [felt 'damn good'] and I've put 1500 miles on it since. [Yes, those are the original tires!]  I'm still in love with 'her' looks. Think it's worth putting back into 'long-haul' condition???

Welcome to the group - ride safe.  Where do you call home?

Sounds like it's pretty close to "long haul" condition now.  Except the tires of course - those original dunlops are a death wish IMO.  You will also want to bleed your front brake.  Wouldn't hurt to check the torque and/or condition of your steering head bearings and wheel bearings while you have the wheels off.

It's a great bike in great shape.  You've got plenty of willing help on this forum.  Ride on.   claps

Definitely replace the tires and replace your clutch and brake fluid... Just because tires look good doesn't mean they are safe after 15 years in storage.

Ride Safe!
