Only issue is an electric hiccup with the turn signals. I have to trace the harness and find where they go and then replace two of them for sure, plus the relay. Aside from a little wear and weathering due to it being 25 years old, the bike is mint and starts right up even on a cold day. Heck, when I started her last night, it was 49F out and she turned over within 5 turns of the starter. Shut her off after a minute, 2 turns got her started.
I'm so pleased with this bike. Much more than I was with the 700, which had been laid down and was in worse shape than I had thought prior to selling her. Lets just say that even the cosmetics, which were the reason I purchased the 700, were pretty bad upon closer inspection. And a lot of work would have to have gone into the bike to get her legal and working. This was a much smarter purchase.
Oh, and my friend who has an 83 650, creamed his jeans when he test rode it once we got it back from Saugatuck. He was always a Hawk man, but this just blew his mind. And I agree, because she is an amazing bike for the condition she is in. Tires still have a good year or two left on them, paint is worn but NO cracking or pitting. Chrome has light rusting, but it's mostly surface that can come off with a good scrubbing and chrome cleaner. Aluminum head covers and transmission covers have some surface corrosion, but that's what cleaner and a scrub brush in a winter garage is for.
The Hawk will always be my first, but this is my favorite bike.

Why isn't he a member yet? Sounds like you got a good deal. A little elbow grease and you should have a nice ride. When you do get her cleaned up, be sure to share more pictures. That first picture is a little hard to see any detail. Nonetheless, hope you enjoy it. Tim

A little video from my camera phone. Sucks, but it was all I had at the time.He isn't a member because not only does he have a crappy comp, but 4 classes M-Th(9-5) and works 60 hours a week(6-6) for his job kinda sap his time from fixing his truck, and riding all he can before the snow flies. Dude is crazy. Sold an 04 Dakota and Sebring for a 91 Montero and an 85 Volvo station wagon just so that he and his wife could have some cheap winter transportation during the winter months. Once spring hits, both get parked and they ride, it's their lives. I guess it sort of rubbed off on me because I actually plan to get off my lazy butt and get a job to actually repair the tail lights (ZOMGWTFBBQ!? A college student with a JOB!?). He keeps telling me that I "have no baseline for comparison for the bike" as my first ridable bike. And with each passing day that I think about it, I can guess that I must have some sort of major tab thing started with the big guy upstairs. <_< Oh, and more pics (IMO the only good ones that I took)

Nice find! One of my all time favorite bikes. I bought one off the showroom floor in 84. I put more miles on it than any other bike I have owned. The USMC transferred me to Okinawa and my buddy crashed it while I was gone. As a matter of fact, I got my only speeding ticket on it running 127mph

Are the pipes slung to one side on that magna? Looking at the pictures it seems like the mufflers are missing from the headers on the throttle side.
