I just bought an 83 cb650 two days ago, this is my first time every owning a motorcycle have owned a dirtbike though. But i have had a few questions arise since i have had the bike.

-This may be like this on every bike but when i use the turn signal i have to keep pushing the switch every time to get the signal to flash, i thought it would be like you push the switch and it just flashes itself. Is there a way to fix this, or is this how they were made?

-Also there is a switch  on the left side of the bike that controls the solenoid, i just wanted to know if that comes stock on the nighthawk or if it was put in by PO?

These may seem like very rookie questions but this is my first bike and just want to make sure everything is good

turn signal= three possibilities of the top of my head
1) bad flasher unit
2) burnt out bulb (needs to have enough draw to trigger the flasher
3) wired incorrectly (this was my problem, PO did not know how to wrie it and crossed it all causing many weird behaviors
4) could also be a poorly grounded or broken wire issue
5) grunged up or corroded connectors

and soleniod switch is defintiely not standard gear.

The blinker problem is the switch.  Take the left contol off the handle bar and clean and lubricate the switch.  If that doesn't do it the switch is broken and needs replacement.

No stock switch for a solenoid.  Sounds like a rigged up fix for another problem.
