My 1 year old helmet was starting to get a few scratches in the lens... I got out the Mothers wax cleaner and polished it. It was cleaner and I went out for a 6 hour ride in the foothills. Results: fewer bugs stuck to the lens, I think I'm going to do this more often. I'd stick with the fine polishes as a rubbing compound would likely ruin the lens, or have to be polished out further.

I use this stuff called "Biker Spirits Spray Cleaner aned Polish" on my faceshield. It's the same stuff I wash my bike in but since my shield takes a beating every day I have to replace it about every 6 months.

I use Pledge or a generic version thereof. take off the visor, wash with dish soap, dry and wax. Wipe the helmet down and do the same.

Soup had some spray that work wonders on the screen. It was so slick just looking at it and your eyes would fall off to the side. I have used wax and it does work really well but this stuff was slick. What was that Soup?

My helmet is flat black, so I can't wax it. I do wax the front of my visor though to help repel bugs and water. On the inside of my visor I use hockey visor anti-fog to keep the fog down...

I got some helmet polish for the visor and shell. Works great on the visor.

Helmet and visor both. I do it to my plexifairing windscreen also. Bugs come off easily and water runs off.
A little turtle wax on the rag when cleaning your cage windshield does the same.

+1 I use wax on my bikini fairing, windscreen and headlight. Really helps with cleaning the bugs off.

i wax both visor and helmet. i do the visor first, and if i'm riding a lot, i will clean only the visor until i'm done, then clean the rest of the helmet.. aircraft mfg's know what they're talking about - they say to use wax on plexiglass windshields to take care of minor scratches and keep the glass in good condition. plexus is great (i use it on aircraft windshields that don't get washed often enough), though i steer clear of any cleaners. i use plain water to wash, and i wax every so often.

AFAIK, It's plastic, as are all the rest. Plexus' original use was for aircraft windscreens and canopies. The stuff really works, and will get baked on lovebugs off quicker than anything I've tried. Believe me, riding in Florida I've tried everything!
