Curious as to how many of "us" ride with a helmet face shield. This year has been a very good year, for bugs etc. Also a lot of road construction. Personally I wouldn't ride with out a shield. I've had bugs hit so hard on mine that it will startle me. So the thought comes about those who ride with out one. Q: doesn't that hurt when colliding with a June bug @ 60mph? Stones from other vehicles have hit my gloved hand and felt like being shot with a pellet gun, can't imagine how this would feel hitting my bare face. Perhaps I'm just a whoose, but when I see some folks riding with a half helmet and sun glasses I can't but wonder what they use to remove a face full of Nats when they get home.....

I'd rather ride without a visor than without a chin bar. Bugs are nothing compared to the proverbial 4-grit belt sander that'll grind your entire face off.

I took a rock in the center of the headlight a while back. It was hard enough to break the lens and lamp inside. That'll put your eye out, safety glasses or not. The visor and chinbar is the only way to avoid injury if something like that, or worse, hits you in the face.

Not only have I gotten "shot" in the faceshield by a very large bumble bee at 65MPH, and had a large stone thrown by a dump truck's ties hit my hand (PAINFUL), but last week I had a dive bombing BIRD hit my faceshield at the same speed  65MPH yikes

The effect was on the bird devastating, but I didn't lose control.  I will never ride without my shield down after those experiences.  My eyes  are too precious to me...
