Saw this on my SV board, impressive price, even more impressive vehicle collection in his garage...I think it would be significantly depressing to have really valuable vehicles and not actually use them for their purpose...Although i'm sure there are other people who would love to own a museum.

Unreal. Very cool indeed. From the looks of this guys garage and other toys, the 23k is a drop in the bucket.

Oddly I was talking to a guy yesterday at Velocity Motorcycles, which had ~3 CBX bikes on hand, and he said they were bulletproof if regularly ridden and parked on the center stand.

Needless to say, this one has not been ridden regularly.

So it needs every rubber seal replaced. The guy who buys it won't care. A total rebuild is just a drop in the bucket compared to the 25k plus it'll probably get. and it most likely won't get touched, but I can guarantee you it will stay on that centerstand, which is a shame.

If that same $3500 was invested at an average rate of return of 10% in 1979, today it'd be worth $76,701.22. This is why you won't see me buying a vehicle as a long-term investment.

Great collection of cars.  In one of the pics you can see two Triumph wedge shaped cars parked in the background.  I'd be willing to bet the gold one that is most visible is a TR-8.  basically a TR-7 with a factory all aluminum V-8.  I had one years ago, and it's one of my "why-the-hell-did-I-ever-sell-that" cars.

About the CBX, wow, every time I see a pic, those headers just look amazing.  Almost obscene.

Do you think the guy selling the bike was trying to show off his other toys? It almost looked like he was showcasing his whole collection. I thought it was a bit odd. When I sell on Ebay, I try not to have anything in the background to distract potential buyers.

People who can not think twice about dropping 24K on a 30 year old bike can afford to get distracted on eBay...it's normal people like us who can't!  Sad

maybe the guy was trying to get the rest of his collection stolen. I know someone on the ebay "comments" section, mentioned to him about having his address on the invoice...I'd be leery of someone becoming interested in the millions of dollars in vehicles i owned.

He could also be establishing that he's a serious collector and that this bike was especially well taken care of.

True. To Airwhiteboy: Ummm, sorry to disappoint. When i said "i" i meant that as in "him", this "I" is poor. That "him" is rich and has millions of dollars in vehicles. :p

Nah, the old 2nd Gen and Cobra just distracted you...the bike is in the background, behind a pillar, and can be seen as a fender, tank, and seat...mostly through the cobra's windshield. lol.
