OK, this 700S is making me crazy. Bad wobble when I got, replaced front tire and rim and new forks seals with proper amount of 15 wt. fork juice. Got better but not right. Right hand turn wobble, harder the turn the worse it got. Today I dropped the rear shocks to -0- then up 2 spots. And looking at the axle on the right side I notice a space between the spacer and swing arm ?

So I loosen up Axel  bolt, adjust and re torque, check air both tires, about 36 each and take off for test run. IT got way worse ? Now it shakes like mad just going strait so I'm stumped. I looked at all the maybes in the book but still stumped. I know this has been an issue for others and talked about but what did you do to fix. The head bearings seem OK but I don't know, I may just replace to see if that's it  banghead

I bet the last thing you fix will be the source of the problem... poke

Have you adjusted the steering stem nut?

If it's loose you'll wobble big time.

Rear tire, rear tire balance, wheel alignment, and steering bearings could all cause a wobble.

Well the rear end don't hop or feel like it's moving, could be though ??  How do you align the wheels on a damn bike ?

OK I pulled off the head light assembly, damn wrong side so back on and then off with the bars and fuse box. Didn't have the MM socket but a 1 1/4 worked, I gave it a smack or 2, it moved. We'll see in the morning on the way to work. I could be the rear end, after messing with the shocks it got bad..

Front forks: Loosen everything then use a glass plate against the upper forks just above the fork slider seals. If the plate is flush against the forks, they're straight.

Rear: Loosen the adjusters and shove the wheel full forward into the axle slot. Lightly seat the adjuster screws then turn them out the same number of turns until the chain is at the correct tension. Forget about the prepackaged alignment marks on the swing arm. Count the number of adjustment bolt turns from full forward. For partial turns of the bolts near the correct chain tension, use flats or points on the bolt head as a reference to 1/6th of a turn at a time. 1/6th of a turn is more than close enough for chain adjustment.

How old is the rear tire? How recently has it been balanced?

If you put the bike on the centerstand, sit on it to pull the front wheel off the ground, and turn the handlebars lock to lock do you feel any sort of "catch" or tendency for the bars to stay at dead center?

I had a really bad wobble at 45mph, hppants can attest to that.  When I put the new tires on the bike it went away.  rayof

Was the front tire completely off the ground?

Were you able to get rid of this space? The spacer should be flush against the swing arm on one side and the brake plate on the other. There should be no gap.

Yep full wheelie, Yep no more gap. Puzzling as hell to me..  I'll swap out the rear tire, if that don't do it it's either Head bearings, but there tight to me. Swing arm, tight to, or the forks are dorked.

When you checked the steering head nut, did you just check the one under the fuse box?
Because the 'real one' is under the top triple tree. You can see it if you look under the top triple tree.

Yes, the one you tightened is just to hold the top triple tree down. Once the top triple tree is off, there is another one underneath it that you tighten the steering head with. Its a double nut.
