Went for a nice ride today to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and snapped a few pics of a beautiful church, Kirk in the Woods.

This post has no religious intent whatsoever, it's sole purpose is to present the wonderfull architecture in the area.

This is Hondo's old stomping grounds as a youngster BTW.

It is beautiful.  We have an area in south-east Wisconsin called Holy Hill.  Quite a few bikers ride out to the area because the roads are very good and the church is a destination for tourist.  They serve breakfast and lunch on the weekends.

Beautiful pictures Fish, did you take a tour? I was surprised it was built in the '50's. Did you and Buzz meet up for a ride?

I guess I took my own tour. I think it's just generally open to the public. Met alot of nice people while walking around. No Buzz, he went to Ohio or something.

Next Sun. at 11am I'll be visiting the inside. The bells and Michigan's largest church choir will be resounding full swing. Should be dramatic and memorable.  thumb

I love those weird baroque statues.  Impressive architecture indeed.
What's under wraps in picture 12?

Nice pics-

Did you ride the twisty road that goes through the neighborhood around the chrch?

If so, was the peaked jump/bridge still there?

I sure did, it was called Kirkway rd./lane. The bridge was there and a couple kids were fishing off it.
