My buddy has just  confirmed that the vstrom 650 is by far the nicest bike he's ridden, plenty of power, room, seemed great on the highway. He's officially out of looking at the bmw bikes or anything else and is looking for a strom, like me lol. now I just have to ride one!

I know I'm late to this thread but I thought I would contribute.  I've have tried a Versys and really liked it, a great deal in fact.  The only thing that bothered me was the engine vibration.  My test ride was about twenty miles on country roads and the expressway.  Very responsive, lots of useable power and tracked like it was on rails while on the expressway during strong winds.  It had nice smooth power for passing, I got to fly by a semi while going well over 70 mph and the bike seemed to cut through all the buffeting I usually get on my Nighthawk.  The buzzing did bother me though, when I got back from the test ride I could feel numbness in my hands and legs.  Shame.  The 2010 Versys has been redesigned a bit.  New rubber engine mounts, footpegs and bar are supposed to significantly reduce the buzz.  I liked the look of the old Versys and this new style has grown on me as well.  Here is the new look...

I really like this yellow one, the US market gets an all black for 2010 and for 2011 it comes in black and dark red.  Seems like a lot of Kawasaki bikes are trending towards a more brooding color pallet this year.

Only think I can say about the VStrom as that every owner I've ever spoke to has given it nothing but praise.
