What kind of winters do you get that the bike has to sit for months, or do just hate the cold?

We get too much snow and ice to be out on 2 wheels. Plus, the cold gets really bitter and you definately don't want to be exposed to it on a bike.

Backing JB up, MC riding is pretty much a 5-6 month pastime here in WI. I consider myself a March to November rider, and a lot of people I know consider that to be pretty hard-core. I know of 1 person that considers himself a year-round rider. He has a fully fairinged BMW with special tires (not studded, which are illegal here). He wears a one-piece riding suit with a full liner, has heated grips and a heated vest. Even so, he admits he won't take the bike out when any kind of winter precipitation is predicted (freezing rain, snow, sleet, etc.)

Yep, me too.  One year I did ride as far along as January and got the bike back out early March but it really isn't quality time riding that time of year.
