Ran across this today over on CYCLE WORLD forum:

http://powersports.honda.com/2011/cb1000r.aspx

Looks like we finally get to purchase one this spring if so inclined.

They worked hard at making it ugly. I do like that they're bringing a standard bike back in the line up.

The exhaust, headlight and Z shape over the radiator absolutely ruins it.

The more I look at that exhaust, the more I want to smack someone and holler "WTF WERE YOU THINKING!?!"

Soup, you nailed it on the head I feel. The running shoe look does nothing for me.  mad1

How about that hideous piece of plastic covering the gas tank?   umph

The exhaust is butt ugly. I can live with the radiator and I'm on the fence with the headlight. It looks like a transformer with that set up.

Put a nice Vance & Hines exhaust on it and I could live with it.

I don't think I would replace my Bandit with one though.

I didn't have much time when I posted that, had to get to a dental appointment.  I got a couple of fillings and have to go back for root canal.  shog  It's probably a really good bike and a blast to ride.  I don't like the headlight and the round thing below it, LED positioner I think they called it, didn't say what it did, maybe lights up as you lean?  The CB1100F is more my style, but I might buy a used CB1000R somewhere down the line, although I already have a Bandit 1200n and I'm not getting any younger.  I mostly been looking at bikes like the ST1300, FJR, maybe the old Voyager XII, '03 and back.   Kawasaki has the new Z1000 & Z750R, Yamaha has the FZ1 and soon the FZ800 at least Honda has something to compete against those now.

How about we ditch just about every piece of plastic, and the gas tank, and start from scratch. Wheels gotta go as well.

Why couldn't it look like the CB1300? I guess they must be worried about cannibalizing the sales of good looking bikes...

Wonder if a CB1300 motor would bolt right up to the Literhawk...Frames look mighty similar.   think2

it says they built a special chassie to show the engine and it also lets you sit more upright. who? you or your passenger. if we get this cb1000r i guess we won't be getting the cb 1100

It may have some visual quirks, but man I would love run that thing through some tight twisties.  naughty

The side view of the headlight faring looks like some sort of animal head.

Both the CB1100 and the CB1300 look great to me. The biggest difference to me is the engine and the tail. The 1300 has a turned up rear end with a fender extension, and the 1100 has the turned down fender that goes smoothly into the seat. What I want is a fender that doesn't go up or down, just stays roughly level, with a small lower extension. Kind of like the 700S Nighthawk and the old CB900F.

The 1300's engine is ugly. Naked bikes should have a good looking engine, otherwise what's the point? I wish it simply looked air-cooled.

Maybe it's my new found Bandit love showing in my appreciation of the 1300 over the 1100.
