ehhh , I was digging it until i saw the single sided swing arm and that headlight , why do standards in America have to look like abstract art all of a sudden .

Because the standards where not selling in America. They want to bring the standard back and are looking for a more modern looking design. They stopped importing the CB750 for a reason. That reason wasn't that they where hard to keep in stock. They just where not selling. The design looked dated and old. We let Japan know this by not buying their standard bikes. Now when they do take a stab at something different we all turn our noses up at it because it doesn't look like our 8-20 year old motorcycles. If you want a motorcycle to look like a 10 or 20 years old then buy a 10 or 20 year old bike.

Complaints so far.
headlight (I think they are trying to get a brighter more visible light)
Exhaust (that can't be that hard to change)
Plastic "Z" under the tank (bet you can take that off)
Plastic ON tank (I don't think that's plastic. the tank looks shaped to move wind around the knees and legs)
Wheels! ( scratcher now your just complaining to complain.)
Single side swing arm. (saves on weight)

not sure if this was a complaint or not but "I wish it simply looked air-cooled". (what are we HD now? Don't upgrade our engine ever! We want the same 70's technology....nothing modern)

Next we will complain that there are no carbs and the FI is fly by wire.

I say thank you Honda. Hope it sells well for them.

I've been wanting one of these for a while.  Glad to hear they are coming to the USA. With some luck I'll be able to pick up a lightly used one in a few years.  HOPE HONDA SELLS EVERY ONE. Better used bike pickings down the road.

Because the standards where not selling in America. They want to bring the standard back and are looking for a more modern looking design.

Modern doesn't have to be synonymous with ugly.

The market was saturated with NH750s that hadn't received a single change since they came out. If you never update a design, why would anyone buy a new one when good used ones are identical, plentiful, and cheap? Even if the market for standards was fading, the fact that the bike was never updated was most certainly a contributing factor to its end.

Complaints so far.

I have no problems at all with a single sided swingarm. I like it. But if they're going to expose the wheel to the world like that, the least they could do is design one that doesn't look so hideous. It doesn't look lightweight, and it doesn't look good.

Much better.

not sure if this was a complaint or not but "I wish it simply looked air-cooled". (what are we HD now? Don't upgrade our engine ever! We want the same 70's technology....nothing modern)

I'm not asking for a return to air cooling, SOHC layout, or carbs. Progress is good. However, if the engine is to be on display and completely uncovered, it should have some visual flair. The CB1300's engine is just odd. The cam covers scream retro, the block, to me, looks plastic. The 80's V4 had fins and they were water cooled. Anything to break up that plain of nothing on the side of the engine. Air cooled just looks good. Hardly calling for a return to pooshrods. I think part of the problem I'm having with it is the sheer visual size of the engine. 1300cc's is kinda big.

I would prefer to buy a brand new CB1100F.  Obviously Honda sees some merit in a new, basic, air cooled standard bike.   The only problem is that they're only selling them in Japan and Australia.

Problem is with a 10-20 year bike is that they won't last forever. No bike does. (Even if it is a honda) Even though there is new/better technology, some people like things to look classy.

I know this isn't the best example but Rolls Royce and Bently still know how to make classy looking modern cars.(Even if you do have to sell a mansion to buy one). I love the styling of the CB1100, but I know that most of America doesn't. I just wish Honda had sent a small amount of them over to the people who do still have an appreciation for the classy look. Just my two corroded cents.

I would rather see the more classic styling....to me the one they're bringing over looks like a b-king or something. It just loses some of its style - that look that makes a CB a CB..lol. Look at the 1300 and the 1100....they actually look classic and "standard"....I don't know, but maybe Im just alittle biased because of my particular bike...lol. If they brought over the 1300....i'd go into debt in a second...lol  biker_h4h1

They need to just update the BIG 1 alittle.....I know alot of people who see mine and say theyd be on one in a second if it was available today.....not much difference from the 1100 and the 1300...

dual front disc, liquid cooled, hydraulic clutch, rear disc....good all-around motorcycle....If they could make it alittle bit lighter and maybe "update" alittle, they would have a hell of a machine.  I would buy a 750 in a second if they would do it!  biker_h4h1  It would be a great little brother for the 1000!  super

OH come on, none of us are willing to bust loose with that much coin for a bike. That's why we ride what we ride. Out of the bikes we have the Bandit was probably the most, then  what ? Ari's and I forget that other cruiser 1300 was it ?

I know I'm not willing.

Option13, that is a sweet looking bike..

You can spend some of your gold and pick this one up right now. At your Honda dealer.

It sure is a real bike. Limited production, but it exists. 2007 Honda CB750 Freddie Spencer Limited Edition Honda has fine looking bikes, they just don't bring them here. Typical for any Japanese company.

Fish, if I wanted to waste my money on a cruiser, I would have bought one to begin with.

Honda! This is what we want...... Just simple, real, fast, comfy, and classy.

+1 me too! Heck, Triumph sells every Bonneville they build, I can't believe there isn't a market for this bike in the US.

That was the Euro/Asia version of the CB750.  Although Honda quit selling it in North America after the '03 model year, it stayed in production until 2009.  The last few years it sold in Japan  only.   Here's a RWB version.

It does not exactly make my heart beat fast.

Looks to me like an overweight Aprilia Shiver.

Seems like everyone is copying that new headlight/instrument "look". I am sure it would make a good sport-tourer if it had all the right bits.

If you put it next to a Bandit and asked the general public which one they like better, guaranteed 95% are going to like this Honda better.

Don't they sell the Moto Guzzi V7 in the states? Oh... if only I had the money  wings
