My stepfather-in-law had to move and couldn't take his project Goldwing. It's a 1976 with 51xxx miles on it. He said it will start (I believe him) but it is certainly a project. I have all the parts except the seat. I also have a Vetter fairing for it. I don't know what to do with it. I plan to refurbish it, but it's not my cup of riding tea, so to speak. So then what, I don't want to hurt his feelings. It's going to take me awhile so I guess I have some time to figure it out. Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the beast.

Not to worry, after you are all done with it, it will look like this:

Check out ngwclub.com for more ideas. It may not be your cup of tea, but you can make it taste like your cup of tea.  naughty

That rear storage would make a neat mailbox..... smiler

I personally, would rather have a couple jars of that maple sugar.

But like Green said....you can make a diamond from a piece of coal if you have the cash and time.

You could always give it to Laminar and he could create a Cafe Racer Wing...... Hap1

Green, Mr Fish, I don't think I've got that much time or money to get there. A couple other positive things about it. The tires look pretty good, no cracks that I could find. It also came with a good AGM battery. On the down side, however, the wiring harness has so many crimp connectors here and there it looks like someone put the wiring harness in a blender and put it back together with crimp connectors  yikes

Maybe The Buzzard knows some of them WingDings that need it for parts.

He could mention it on all those WingNut forums he's on.

I cast my vote for making it naked......probably the less expensive way to get some miles on it.

All the ones I've seen that I like have been naked. Don't know if I have the patience to really do it up right. I guess first things first, I need to get it running and put it back together.

This is what I want to do with one of the 700's that are hanging around. May as well do one of those rather than buy another project. There are at least 10 early Goldwings in the area here for less than $1000 that seem tempting.

I got it running today. Had to short the solenoid, as there is no start button. Actually ran pretty well once it quit smoking. It smoked so much and so long I had to open the garage door and windows for about 15 minutes  bugey It settled down and sounded pretty good, but never went below 3k rpm's. Ah well, now I can start on the wiring  think2

That black and gold scheme has kind of grown on me. I think I might try something similar. I replaced the solenoid and took off a lot of the cobbed up wiring yesterday. It looks like it may have a coolant leak somewhere above the left side of the engine. I suppose I'll need to find that.  DirtDOG
