I'm always trolling my local CL for deals on MC gear, and came across this: http://madison.craigslist.org/mcy/2079138364.htmlHas anyone heard of or used FieldSheer gear? I couldn't find any online reviews of these pants specifically, but reviews of some of their other stuff was so-so. I'm thinking that, for $35, they'd probably be better than the blue jeans I wear most of the time. Also, if anyone is familiar with them, a size comparison would be nice. I'm thinking a Large would fit OK (I'm 5'10", 190). Maybe not as overpants though.

I'm pretty sure cjbear has FieldSheer gear, he really liked it. I'm sure others will chime in.

Damned near anything is better than jeans. (remember falling as a kid?)
If you're not looking at buying new and jeans is the other option, if they fit properly, get them. Don't forget that knee armor fits weird when standing but is in the right place while sitting on a motorcycle.

Thanks for the link. It looks like the reviews are mostly positive, considering the price point. Sizing seems to be the biggest issue. The ones I'm going to look at are size L, which I though would be plenty big for me. Reading several of the review, now I'm wondering if my 34"-35" waste will work.

My two cents on the brand Fieldsheer is thus. Back in the early 90's when I rode with all sport bike guys, EVERYBODY wore Fieldsheer stuff. It was considered top of the heap back then, so I would tend to regard that company as pretty high quality. They have a much smaller piece of the market these days, but I still believe in them.

Well I ended up taking a pass on the pants. After reading about the sizing issues, I was concerned that a Large was going to be pretty snug around by 35" waist. I contacted the seller via email and he confirmed my thought.
I guess I'm back to trolling CL for deals...

Fieldsheer ain't junk, I've never had a bad product from them. Sizing's a problem no matter what with women's pants, but Fieldsheer, FirstGear and Tourmaster have decent prices on good gear, and seem to have finally figured out that women will buy gear made to fit them. My Tourmaster pants are plenty long enough and fit very well.
But you're a dude and thus easier to fit....

Come pants shopping with me sometime. I can usually find 1 or 2 pair in an entire store that are my size, and they still don't usually fit right.

I ran into this experience last week. I got a hat for a b-day present. SOQS, familiar with my pea-head, got me a size Small. But it was too small. So I took it back to exchange it for a Medium. Only, they don't make a Medium. The next size up was Medium/Large, in which my head was swimming. Disappointing, because I've had this particular hat (the Stormy Kromer) on my gift list for a couple of years.

It being wool...maybe...you could get out the steam iron and effectively partially shrink it?
