I've been riding a KLR650 for about a year and haven't been satisfied with the 60mph+ performance. I've been looking around for a couple of weeks and test riding anything that will fit my 6'6" (and extremely heavy) body. I stopped by the local Kawi dealer today and noticed a red '92 NH for sale as I walked in the door. Knowing that it would be overpriced, I almost didn't ask about it. Luckily, I did! I pulled out the cash and laid it down...an hour later it was in my garage. Riding this thing is a dream! My wife says the KLR has to go. I told her I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I think the NH is all I'll be needing for quite awhile. I hope the engine is as bullet-proof as I hear it is. 1992 Honda Nighthawk 750 21,xxx miles

Wow, that looks pristine. Congrats.
Oh, yes, they are bulletproof. Change the oil and lube the chain, and it will run forever. No valves to adjust.

I ended up with it for $1600+TTL. There is absolutely no damage anywhere on the body. A little rust on the shock springs and pipes that should come right off. The tank is spotless. The fender and plastics are in perfect shape. The dealer said he normally didn't take NHs on trade, but needed it to make a sell to the PO. I think the cool-factor of the NH didn't measure up to the Ninja that he ended up with.

Glad to have you! My 5'11" hubby loves his KLR as much as I love my Nighthawk...but there's no doubt who's faster! (and there's no doubt who can jump a curb either.....)

With any luck, I'll find a way to keep both. Then I can speed down the Interstate (just kidding...kinda') AND jump a few curbs.

Nice looking hawk you have and $1600 from a dealer is awesome, they usually jack them way up when they are that clean. If you can find a way to hang on to the klr I would if I were your. I have a Dr650 along with my hawks and I would never be without a dualsport.

nice find, and theses engines are bulletproof as long as you use common sense and take proper care for them. Just remember they are air cooled so dont crank it and forget about it running or let it sit in traffic for extended periods of time.

I almost didn't ask because I "knew" it would be too much. I think they only like to deal with cruisers and sport bikes. I'm sure he didn't have too much invested in it since it was a trade...and since I was there with cash in hand...

Nice looking find. It's hard to find a '91-'95 with such a shiny engine. That one was well cared for. Where do you call home?

Great bike. Looks like a heck of a find. Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.

I started cleaning it up last night. I really had a hard time finding anything to clean. I ended up on the bottom side of the exhaust cleaning off the grime and rust. I almost blew a gasket when I found a small scratch on one of the side covers and tiny little nick in the paint on the tank. Then I realized it was 18 years old. As for location, I live in San Antonio, TX. I guess I need to update the information in my profile.

Welcome again. I bought a scratch remover product by Wizard that is absolutely amazing. Follow in the instructions on the bottle, and wax over the fix. Wizard also makes an aluminum polishing product that is equally great. Texture of 0000000 steel wool and smells like bubble gum.
You joined us about 2 months late. In October, we had a mini-Nighthawk Rally in Hill Country. Popo303, who lives in Bourne, gaciously hosted us. And Page62 lead us on some incredible rides. You can read about it in our photo ride reports section. I'm definitely going back to that neck of the woods next year. Hopefully you can join us then.

Does the polish work on plastic? I'm a little scared to put anything on it for fear of making it irreversibly worse. It's not bad and hardly noticeable...except to me. I also missed the Deal's Gap rally. My dad came down earlier in the summer with his VTX1300 and we rode the Three Sisters in the Hill Country. Halloween weekend we went to Townsend, TN and rode the Dragon. I did both of these on the KLR...now I've got to do both of them all over again on the 'hawk!

Does the polish work on plastic? Yes - I've used with with success on both plastic and metal painted surfaces. This is the product: http://www.toolrage.com/prodview.asp?sku=WIZ-11049
