Well santa gave me an awesome gift this year, my bike won't start!

We've been getting really bad rain here for the last week, so the bike was left untouched and covered in the parking lot since last friday. it finally stopped raining 2 days ago so i went out today to start the bike and when i hit the starter all i got was a single click noise from the starter, then nothing.

Tried to start a couple times and each time got a single click then nothing, a couple times the gauge cluster electrics died, and on the last time i tried the gauge cluster electrics died and now won't come back on.

When i stood the bike upright off the kickstand some water came pouring out of the right side of the bike, so i put it on the center stand and recovered it to hopefully let it dry. I'm going to try checking things out tomorrow, its supposed to rain again tonight and its almost dark.

What do i need to check for?

Water coming out of the side was probably just from the engine. When I wash the bike I always have to lean it over to the right to get most of the water out of there. Given that it was leaning left on the sidestand, you probably had a small pond sitting on your engine.

Like the others said, check the battery and charge it. Should be up and running after that.

that's what i figured. I just ran through a battery, pun definately intended, of tests with my old yamaha with the battery before i sold it. I also noticed the spark plugs are really rusted, so those are due for a change.

Anybody know what kind/size of spark plugs i need?

You can pull a plug and take it with you to the auto parts store, or you can just tell them to look it up on the computer, they'll know what kind you need.

Also after being wet, connections anywhere between the battery and the ignition system components may have corroded. Free and easy to check and clean.

In the last couple weeks i've noticed that the bike is a little harder to start than it was before. It still starts right up every time, but i have to give it some more choke and sometimes hit the starter for a few seconds longer than i used to. I'm thinking a new battery and spark plugs are in order anyway.

Spark plugs are DPR8EA-9. For batteries you'll want a 12V, 12AH (amp-hour) rated battery. Wal-Mart has one for under $40. Let me know if you need a Honda official manual.
