This may be a silly question but are there boots out there (riding or dress) that give enough protection on the road and could pass for dress shoes in the office?  My office is not coat and tie here but we still have to dress in collared shirts, slacks, and dress shoes, etc.
Thanks.

I have a similar pair of these that I wear in my office.

I have a nice comfortable pair of over the ankle boots that I bought at Walmart for about $35.00  Once my pantleg is down over the upper portion, they look just like some rugged casual shoes that many people wear to work.  No one could tell they are boots unless I lift my pantleg...

My office environment is collared shirt and tie... suits optional...  No one has ever said boy those are ugly shoes!   ImaPoser

Best "dress" boots I've seen are BMW City Boots.
I'd look more to Euro companies. I have an older pair or Diadora boots that aren't to motorcycle looking. Maybe Puma? Alpinestars Harlem Air?

I advise instead to store a spare pair of shoes where ever your helmet and gloves get put while at work.
This will be cheaper and more comfortable than any presentable boot:

I keep a pair of $23 Rockport oxfords in the drawer and change out of my Chippewa riding boots when I get in.  I got sick of carrying penny loafers in a tank bag.

Agreed, I have a pair of cordovan colored dress shoes in my desk drawer at my office.

I wear my dress pants and dress shirt, sometimes a tie to the office under my gear.  I intentionally have purchased gear to wear over my clothes.  I get to work in full gear, including MC boots, walk into my office and close the door.  2 minutes or less later I emerge appropriately dressed for work.

I like the cordovan color shoes as they go well with tans, blues or even grays.

Like the others, I keep a pair of shoes at the office under my desk. I wear Alpinestars Ridge boots, had them for 3 years now, they are great.

On some days, I wear high-ankle workboots on the bike and in the office, and although they are comfortable, I don't feel as safe in them as regular motorcycle boots. Gotta keep an eye on the laces, double & triple knotting them all the time.

I'm not supposed to just wear dress pants and shoes on the bike?  puzzled

It looks liked you're opening up an S&M shop. Would you recommend the riding crop or the cat-'o-nine-tails?  poke

Seriously though, I have a pair of Irish Setter boots that I wear as my standard riding boot. With khakis, jeans or even moderate dress pants, they work fine. Like others, I get concerned about the laces, so I try to tuck them when I ride.

I had kept a pair of shoes at the office as well but on some days, especially when I was wearing jeans I would just keep my riding boots on.  The pair I own are fairly understated and putting the boots on and off can sometimes be a pain as they fit quite snug.  Here is a pair I was thinking about when you posted your question.  They are priced okay and are very understated and look comfortable.  Probably wouldn't get a second look.

Doc Martens....You can wear them anywhere and they're tough enough to protect your foot.  Not only that, they're going to be less expensive than actual riding boots.  I have a pair of these...and they are fine in the office.  Plus if you ever need to stomp somebody's ass then you'll be well prepared   naughty

I don't currently commute b/c I always end up smelling like the bike. But, I start a new job soon where I might consider riding. (I could have some great alternative routes home) My plan is to put my work clothes in my tailbag and just change when I get there.

SOQS refuses hugs if I'm wearing my riding jacket for that reason.

If you wear your riding boots all day long, every day, they are really going to stink after a while. I don't know about the rest of you but my boots are...where at one time water proof and warm. Not so water proof anymore but they are warm. So if I keep them on all day I would have really stinky feet. My roommate does this and his boots are sometimes spotted walking to the river to clean themselves. I just have some supper cheep clogs I leave under my desk at work.
