So last week I told SOQS I was going for a ride and hopped on the bike.  Nowhere to go and no time to be there, just riding backroads and restoring my sanity. I only had my cellphone so the pics aren't the best quality.  Maybe we will get a new camera for our anniversary.  naughty

Leaving Georgia via the backroads...No slab on this trip!

Little Country Church

Country Store sadly not open anymore, bet it would have been a good stop.

Garrett, S.C. Post Office

Estill, S.C.

I love old building advertising like this

Hardeeville, S.C

Locomotive on display

Sign describing above Locomotive

Veterans Memorial in Hardeeville, S.C.

Headed into Bluffton, S.C. for lunch

A personal favorite, the "Squat and Gobble"

A 1/2lb "Greek" lamb burger with spinach, feta, tomato...best part of the day!

Headed back into Ga. via Talmadge bridge

Cargo Ships headed out to sea

I had a great time, put about 200mi on the bike and returned home feeling relaxed.  I use the bike so often as primary transportation it's easy to forget how fun it is to get out and just ride.  I'm definitely going to take a tip from pantsman and ride more on the weekends!  thumb

Great ride ari, hope you found your sanity.  I like that shot with the sun breaking over the train display and onto the bike.

That's my kind of day.  Not much better than a  relaxed backroads ride.

Ari do you ever go to Charleston? Kid#2 and I are contemplating going there for a couple of days and I'm wondering if it is worth the coast to coast haul.

Charleston is very nice, but also very touristy. (See $$$)  I would love to show you guys around Savannah if you make it over this way Burgi. Depending on how much time you guys would have I reccomend checking out Hilton Head, Tybee, and Bluffton.  They are all nice places with plenty to do though, so I think the trip would certainly be worth it.

P.S. If you guys need a rent free space to stay while you're here, the wife and I got ya covered!  thumb

Nice report Ari - good to see you having fun on the Big 1.  That cable-stayed bridge- is that the one we noticed when we got off the interstate in Savannah, heading into downtown?  I like cable-stayed bridges (unlike Fishball, I believe).

Yep.  Though that one appears okay to me.

These two, the Mighty Mac and Ambassador bridges really messed with my head.

Yeah, I got that impression, that is why I wondered if it was worth it. We fly free but cost on the ground add up really quick which cuts down options.  Sad I had thought maybe we could skip getting a car there since it looks like a place we could probably walk?
I've never been to coastal GA, I hear is beautiful. Always great to get a local perspective to find the non-tourist stuff. If I go with a car I will be sure and try to connect!
SWA is just opening service to SC which is on my short list of states I haven't visited.
Of course all this hinges on me being arrange time off work during her spring break.  umph

I will, course I won't be riding but how can I pass up the chance to meet some of the group from what certainly appears to be the friendliest NH region?  smiler

Not to  threadjacked,

Burgi you can ride anything in my stable, any day.

Ari you have inspired me. My camera is old, slow, eats batteries, and I have to pry the lens cover open for every shot, but now I want to go get some cool rural Southeast shots too.

Thanks Coffee
I really appreciate the more than generous offers from you and Ari.
Since K2 will be along and she has made it clear motorcycles are not something she will ever touch this trip, at least, would be out.
I am working on her adventurous streak. I keep telling her she still owes me for a wander across NC a couple of years ago where we saw a sign for a mud bog and she absolutely refused to let me stop. Who knows when I might ever run across one of those again???
Of course she could have been getting me for buying her a Coast Guardsman at a charity bachelor auction the summer before. I SWEAR it was an accident!  muhaha
No matter what we do, somehow, it ends up being fun.  happy1

Are you one?

Then that should answer your question.  poke

Thanks for posting Ari. That burger looks really good. Do you have an address for that place? Seams like a good destination ride.  naughty

Never mind I found it. Only a 681mile trip. Pants you down for a burger run?

Nothing wrong with them. But when your 18 and easily embarrassed and your ancient mother goes buying a cute 20 year old guy it can be the stuff of legend.  ImaPoser
