Yes i did take the liner out as it was  hot today , heck i even opened vents  wings well at least for the first 60 miles.

So this is the last ride of the year for me so i did some scootin today and took some pics , it was 55 deg when i set out for the ride and all of the snow was melted .

Rode out west a while and stopped at a park in Geneva to get a couple shots of the river (Fox River)

Just up the road was a must stop and see

Would not be complete without a light house

and a bridge

This is down town Batavia

Down the road  is Aurora

this is a steel industry pouring thing

and the aurora dam

after that it began to rain/ice mix turning to all rain and the temps started dropping a little

made a little vid of the dam , i like the way water rushes out from under the ice

Good finds.  Hangster is an exploratory ride ace.

Wind power will never take off.  Is Batavia, IL a major incorporation center for large companies, or I just too used to seeing the town name on every Aldi product I buy?  Glad I'm not the only one that gets mesmerized by the sound and sight of falling water.

Nice ride report - thanks for sharing.  Windmills are cool - the only ones we have down here are small water pumps for irrigation or air pumps for oxiginating a farm pond.

I guess for this time of year, that constitutes decent weather for ya'll.  Noticed you brought the fishing pole along - did you wet a line?

Happy New Year, my friend.

Didn't wet the line HPP , it started to rain real good and those frozen little balls of ice really sting , i got completely drenched on the way back home but on the up side i did pass by 4 other bikers proudly showing the appreciation for the brotherhood with an all out extended salute  wave

Way to go Hangster.  Riding in IL with no wind protection in winter=toughness/insanity.  Those 919 mirrors look good on the NH.

That was the whole point of the ride , to have some last moments riding in 2010 , just in case no one noticed i haven't done any RRs in 2010 (i'm just a slacker)

Thanks LuckyL , wind protection is what the helmet visor is for , i really like to feel the wind , it just makes you feel like part of the space around you.

Nice job on the ride/report, I always enjoy your posts because usually they are scientific/technical oriented.  Fun stuff.

Seems like the baker that worked in the basement would have a noisy day of it.  People were generally pretty hearty back 100 or so years ago.

On harnessing the wind, Meijer, a regional grocery giant, I noticed yesterday has put a line of ( 5'  ? ) wind mills on the roof of their corporate headquarters here.  I keep hoping that big corporations will bring their massive profits to bear and adopt wind energy for their personal consumption, but only a few are getting on board.  In Spain they are reflecting sun rays to a pinpoint area and creating steam to run a giant turbine electricity generator.  Also, some European countries that boarder the sea are using underwater 'fans' to utilize tidal flows for generation.  France uses 85 to 90% nuclear reaction (clean and safe) for electricity production.  America uses filthy and dangerous (kills miners) mercury emitting coal.  In any event I'm glad to see Meijer reaping electricity from wind.  Sorry about the term paper, I got off on a tangent.   soap   smiler

I hope you rinsed the salt off your scooter Hangster!

But the average lifespan was only 48 so lots didn't survive the conditions.

Nice report, Hangster. I didn't realize we live relatively close together. I know that area fairly well since I grew up in Illinois.  happy1
