Retired? You probably have me beat then for total time.
I've been camping regularly for 43 years - sitting at a campfire in diapers literally. One day two years ago I decided I had enough of the not camping thing and 48 hours later I moved into a RV permanently. Never looked back and have no intention of not living like this again.
I'm poor too due to an extended vacation I decided I needed...yet I'm so happy I could poop rainbows.
Camping in any form or duration is truly the good life.

Yes, camping is good. I "run away for a few months each year and am looking forward to making this permanent.

Yes, camping is good. I "run away for a few months each year and am looking forward to making this permanent. Once you're addicted to the lifestyle there's no going back. I find it interesting how motorcycles, RV's and airplanes often go together. Maybe it's the freedom and adventure the lifestyles offers... There's nothing quite like a sunset when you have no clue what state you're in..and don't care that you're essentially lost because you're still at home. It took me 2 days to figure out what state I was in...I think I finally figured it out but I'm not sure which state I took the picture in - OK, TX or KS most likely. Could have been CO though - oh well, journey on...

Great pics, all! Bumblebee, That rv looks just like mine.
Years ago I used to camp with my bike. This spring I will with my NH. Now that I have a parts bike I plan on rebuilding the best of the parts to make the one whole. In the spring I will have spare parts to sell to members here if they need them then. I won't be selling ''junk'' parts. Just stuff that is slightly lesser than what I saved.
Hopefully this winter I will work on a jig for making luggage racks for the 650's. If I do I will post here first then ebay.
Bumblebee, What is that rig, 6 mpg? Also I will try to take some pics of a plane my dad and I are building then post them here tonight.

Bumblebee, That rv looks just like mine. What is that rig, 6 mpg? Really?! It's a 1985 Fleetwood Southwind (J model) You were pretty close. I calculate mileage and range at 6mpg for a base number to work from. I avoid interstates like the plague (boring places to drive anyway) and cruise at 45-50mph on forgotten back highways so I typically get a smidgen over 7mpg which gives me a 500 mile range. Anything over 55mph or into real mountains and it's like drilling a one inch hole in the bottom of the gas tank. Between the motorcycle and RV, I average a pretty decent mileage though.

Mine is a Southwind also. I get about 7mpg on my rv. That 440 mopar sucks the gas right down.

I'm just in the planning/BSing stages of a riding/camping/fly fishing trip, so I'm going to need a lot of advice and info next summer. My buddy just moved to Missoula Montana from where I live Marquette MI and I was originally going to drive out there and stay with him with some friends, but now a friend of mine is thinking about riding. Problem is, fly fishing gear takes up a lot of space plus the normal things you need for camping and a week long trip. If I still have the NH, looking for something else, but if I still have it I'll need a wind shield, saddle bags and tail bag, and some sort of temporary sissy bar to hold the rod tube and other gear. Im excited, it just may work.

wow look at that! That's way too big. You can't go anywhere fun with it. One tight turn dirt road and that thing becomes a permanent landmark. Now this: http://listproc.ucdavis.edu/archives/cbximages/log0612/0030.htmlis a motorhome. (based on the Dakar trucks design) The plan for this summer pending no more disasters like last year: 90-120 days boondocking -- minimum. -- maybe longer. 862 days and counting. Going for 4 digits now.

WOW! These things are awesome! The more I find out about the advances in RV's, the more I would rather have one as my main home than a regular box house. How about one of these? http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/build-it-yourself/trailers/http://thistinyhouse.com/http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/houses/lusby/You could boondock in some really nice places with that 6X6 though!! I saw a homemade RV on one of those TLC specials that a guy built from a surplus airprt fire truck, it even had an elevator, so his wife (who as MS I think it is) could get in and out easily! Nice rig, that!

You could boondock in some really nice places with that 6X6 though!! While you're daydreaming, why not have some fun? Get a 5x10 flat bed trailer with a rear ramp then make a trip to your local hardware store. Build a 4' high box on it with double rear doors. Make the top that is hinged near the front. Put in a fold down bunk on one side. Add a fold down table on the other with a fold down seat. Put a 5-10 gallon water tank in the front top so you'll have running water. Build a carrier for a 5 gallon fuel can. Install a marine deep cell battery for power. Get a port-a-potty. Add accessories and storage as desired. Now fold up the bunk and table, lift the top and ride your motorcycle in and tie it down. Presto, the perfect long range motorcycle-trailer-camper.
