I agree with Meatface, stick it out man and you'll have a real beauty, I love the bike, you can really make it quite a head turner. My 750 Nighthawk was a wreck...literally. And I brought it back from the dead with a little bit of money and A LOT of elbow grease. As for the carbs, the "E" string off a guitar works great for cleaning out all the little passageways. And because of their rough condition, even after the rebuild I would definately run some sea-foam in your gas for a while to get rid of any residual gunk. As for the throttle valve, If you cant find a new one somewhere on the web, I would DEFINATELY check with your local machine shop and see if they could machine you a brand new one, as the part is very simple to machine.
                                                Best regards,
                                                                    Tom

I finally received my new Air-T's. First I will show you the condition of the old ones.

As you can see, PO made his own out of rubber hose and silicone(?).

The silicone substance has the consistency of Hondabond or liquid gasket material.

Now, here are pic's of the new air-t-connectors and carburetor insulators I bought.

I am getting the machine shop at my work to make me new throttle valves in the meantime. I will try to keep you guys updated as progress begins on rebuilding these carbs. I ordered new carb kits, but the seller I bought them from is being shady. I won't name any names, but this supplier has been named on this site several times. I ordered the carb kits on June 28th. I paid for all four with paypal on the same day. I never heard back from them, so I emailed them Tuesday asking for tracking info. Their reply was that they were short 1 carb kit from my order and wanted to know if I wanted the three they had or cancel my order. What terrible communication! Why should I have to contact them in order to find out my order can't be filled banghead?
They're ordering cart systems notifies with a red "X" telling you if the item is unavailable or the quantities you need can't be filled. I am a little upset if you can't tell. What kind of business suggests to the customer to cancel the order? Rant aside winker I will press forward.

I finally got my carb kits in from the supplier! I'm short 1 kit, but I will be ordering the 4th one shortly as I rebuild this carb rack.

I also got a used 4-2 exhaust system off ebay. I will show pics of this soon.  super

Bass Pro makes a good parts separator.

Here lies my carb internals. Separated and ready for cleaning or replacing

Here is a pic of some of the original internal carb components.

Here is a shot of the connecting pipes

I'm trying to match these Phillips head bolts with new SS hex bolts.

Make sure they cut the angles on the edge of the throttle valve properly. That is the actual seal area with the carburetor opening. If it's different and letting more air/fuel through, you'll have no end of fun balancing everything.

I'm afraid you are correct. The guy in the shop said he couldn't get the angles right. Do all VB44A, B, & C carbs have the same throttle vavles? If so, I may be able to get a junk carb for parts. What do you think my options are? Thanks Bumblebee
