Well, I finally got a windshield (Street Shield EX) and can comfortably ride at highway speed. I've noticed quite a few NH's with touring setup(luggage, pegs, etc.). I don't have the luxury of a sissy bar or aftermarket seat, so I'm perhaps at a slight disadvantage when it comes to touring. I'm planning on taking it for some trips soon enough; I know it's not a "touring" specific bike, but I'm sure it can handle some good distances. I'm just curious: what has been the longest distance you've traveled on your NH?

I also reference two main motorcycle touring sites:

AND
http://www.visi.com/~dalebor/

Any other recommendations?

Get a couple of boating dry bags, stuff everything in and strap on the back. A tank bag is useful. That's all you need. In the photo, the dry  bag is red. I'm adding a second one next trip to take all the other junk.

Disadvantage is what you make it.
Wants vs Needs. And you don't need a lot.

Picture: Garden variety standard CB650. Added a 1.5 gallon fuel can and trail pad to the luggage rack. Sleeping bag on the seat behind me. Daypack had essential supplies only. (all needs, no wants) Nothing else. No tent. 100% camping. 8 days. 1000+ miles, didn't keep accurate count. Total planning time from "putter around for half a day daytrip" to "back when I get back" was about 15 minutes. Left the damned camera on my galley counter banghead otherwise  ricky  ricky smiler

I did a 4700 mile trip to Colorado from Louisiana and back in 2008.
