I'm a newbie  - I've owned this bike since 1995.
Used it for years as my commuter, just don't have the heart to get rid of my buddy.  Just keeping it around and watching it turn into a classic.

Awesome. I wish I had the stock right side cover on mine. I think my current side cover came off a 650, based on the color of the paint overspray on the back side. The PO did a can-job on it, so at least it's black.

I also like your rack -- is that a rack that fit the 550, or did you have to mod it?

As far as I know the Rack is stock, from Honda line, it was already installed on the bike when I bought it in 1995.  I had the Seat and the back rest re-done.  I also put new fork seals in and new head steering bearing.  I would think you could pickup another right side cover on ebay for reasonable price.

I don't think I've seen that Hondaline rack on a 550 before; nice to know it works.

As for the side cover, original right side covers -- especially those with the intact decal -- fetch a pretty price on ebay. Such is the curse of a 1-year model...

They're shaped differently. If the cover fits your bike, it's from a 550.

Well there you go. I guess some PO decided it would look best with a 650 paint scheme. There's definitely blue paint overspray on the back; not a standard color for the 550.
