Ok....so I got a brand new jug of Mobil 1 15w-50 synth oil that I'm thinking of using....my thoughts and some feed back from others say it'll be fine as its for high temps, and since the bike is air-cooled only it'll help during the hot temps outside. Anybody use synth and what are your thoughts?
Also for my Canadian friends, does Crappy Tire sell oil filters?

Nice bike and welcome to the group.

I've never used synth oil in my bike.

Unless I'm mistaken, Mobil 1 15-50W is "energy conserving" which might mess with your clutch.  Check the container to see if it says "energy conserving"...

I got a 10w-40 4 stroke  bike oil from CT as well it was one of the least expensive.  This is my first bike so I have nothing to compare it to, sorry.

I'm tempted to try this Rotella, it looks cheaper and a lot of people swear by it.

So I changed the oil and filter today, did alittle washing, came across the stamp on the engine head by the exhaust pipes, just below the chain tension bolts...reads 748cc....according to this in the specs field...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CB750

I either have a cb750c or a cb750f engine.....as pissed as I was at first for not doing some real home work on the bike b4 purchase. I could go back and do the whole "not happy, can I have my money back.."
After washing her down, than going for a rip....it runs so good! I gotta get a sound clip for you guys, soon.
The only issue right now after doing the oil change, is the custom exhaust is so in the way for changing the filter....yes I made a mess with trying to not to take off the exhaust....first thing is to make some custom pipes.

Had a similar problem with my 700 and the mac header.  I bought a strap filter wrench and it was much easier.   thumb

Lookin forward to hearing how that exhaust sounds.

The engines are not interchangeable on nighthawks and from the pics I can tell that your engine looks like the correct type for your bike.

not so much getting the filter out...but the oil dripping on the pipes...lol...no need for strap, one bolt, casing comes off, filter pops out.
