Hi all from Chicago.

I just put a "new" '83 650 in the garage. Was thinking about a dual headlight satin black job, but I think I'll go with a slow OEM resto. I picked it up as a commuter/beater, and as my bad habit goes, I start to restore things back to original condition. Looking forward to putting some tall road miles down.

Hi Merle and welcome to the group.  I couldn't help but think of those old time luggage with port of call stickers plastered all over them.

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone.

I gave the 'Hawk some love this weekend with a regular maintenance, fresh gas, and some air in the scaryold tires, followed by a triumphant shakedown ride. Seals/Prog springs from BikeBandit, and seatcover and some body panels coming in from ebay. It gets the hairdryer treatment and new shoes next weekend. Dang, it's still in the 30's in Chicago. Can't wait for some roadtrips this summer!

Over the past few years, most of my riding has been offroad- DRZ400, KTM 450EXC, and now an RM250. With the exception of a VStrom I had a few years ago (nice trip to the Dragon) I haven't done more than an hour on the road.

Chicagoland Hawk meetup anyone?

hey- where's the chain go?
