I went through heck and back to order my Progressive Shocks for my 82' cb750sc.  Finally got them and they don't fit next to my chain guard...  I've been stuck in the woods for the past month and need to keep traveling!  Progressive claims that these are the correct AND only damper for my model.  The part numbers match in 'the' book.  This has been confirmed by a local mechanic who suggests that I cut my chain guard to make it fit.  This will leave less than a 1/4inch between the new damper and uncovered chain...  My question is should I cut the chain guard, return the shocks and keep looking, ?????

I'm clueless on what I should do and am getting to the point where I just want to put a for sale on her and start walking...  I'm living in the woods so will not be able to respond often to this post.  If you know a solution, or have come across the same issue, please shed some light on my rainy day.  My cell phone number is 860-838-seven52zero; if you are able to call I will try and pick up, but my battery only lasts for about a day.  My email is travelafar@hotmail.com

Thanks, Sam

The base of those are not symmetrical. They are off set to one side a little. If you put them on the wrong way they hit the chain guard. Loosen the bottom and spin it 180*. I did the same thing at first.

Call made.

Loki, thank you SOOOOO much!  Totally smacked myself in the head when I spun them 180 and they fit right in. banghead  I called Progressive and apologized to them because I swore they didn't fit.

Ride on brother.  We are anxiously awaiting your next report.

You fully recovered from your off some time ago in the ice?

Progressive should have known to tell you that when you called. It's not obvious because they are not offset that much. Did they make a difference in the ride? How about getting it up on the center stand?
