Once a month, some members of  the 2 Wheeled Texans( http://www.twtex.com/forums/index.php) meet for a meal, some pie, and lots of moto talk.  Today, they met near my corner of the state, so I rode over to Lake Fork to see what was up.  After 2 great days of 80* and sun, today dawned cloudy with a threat of rain.  After looking at radar and forecasts, decided the chance of light showers was worth the risk.  Some of these guys and gals will ride around 400 miles for these monthly meetups.  I only had to go a bit over 100 through some  light rain to get there.  Probably around 50 bikes parked around the restaurant.  This one caught my eye.  A 74 Suzuki 750.  Well preserved.

TWT forum is much like NHF, good info and people that get out of line are dealt with quickly, so it rarely happens.  I found these folks to be very friendly.   There was a good mix of bikes represented here.  Here are a few.

I started talking to the owner of this '94 Connie.  He asked what I was riding and when I said NH he said he has a 97 NH.  Rhodyne is a NHF member who rode from Austin today just to eat and talk with TWT riders.  We talked NH's a bit then he told of the different bits of other bikes on his Connie.

Is that a NH holding the TWT sign?  I didn't get a chance to talk to the owner, but got a thumbs up from him as he left.

Pie?  Yea, they had plenty of that.  I had pecan pie.  Preceded by a good meal.

All in all, a good day.

That first pic was an old Suzuki Water Buffalo (GT750), an uncle of mine had one back in the 80's ( could even be the same bike in the picture ), a water cooled 3 cyl. 2-stroke 750 CC scream machine and one of the few bikes that could keep up with the Kamikaze H2 750 triple in straight line acceleration. I put a lot of miles on that bike along with doing all the wrench work on it and take it from me that could be be one scary machine if your were not expecting the surge when that engine hit its powerband.
Peace

Thanks for the replies guys.  Only at a mc gathering can you talk about a naked Connie in the parking lot.

LL -- like the reason for a ride .. PIE!  Nice ride report! thumb

Took a ride about a week ago with the same idea in mind.  Got to the biker hangout and ordered apple pie with a wedge of cheddar.  The waitress had never heard of cheese with apple pie.  The pie was good but the processed cheese slice left a lot to be desired!  umph

I know I have seen pics of that red Nighthawk holding the sign. there are not many that have a Grab rail in place of the backrest.

RR-Pie is as good a reason as any for a ride.
Soup-Thousands of miles for pie?  Was a good time, but I ran the pie off the next day.
CM-Could be a NHF member.  Rhodyne is a NHF member but rarely posts.
