So this morning while I was getting my hair buzzed the barber and I were discussing fishing. The topic came up as he asked where I went this past weekend. I told him Serena and I took a trip up to Gloucester, you know the town that the movie The Perfect Storm is based. He spent a few minutes trying to teach me the proper way to say Gloucester... I may never quite get that east coast accent down. I noted the roads looked like lots of fun while we drove so I decided to hop on the bike after the haircut this morning and take a return trip to the fabled fishing village. Gloucester is only an hour from Boston, I took mostly HWY 127 north which is kind of putzy with speeds ranging from 25 to 45 mph but very, very twisty. For the return loop I took HWY 128 south a much more blistering pace between 55-65 mph and also kind of curvy. Didn't stop except for when I arrived at Gloucester. The view looking out over the Atlantic. A memorial to all those fisherman who have died at sea. There are nine stones that surround the statue of the fisherman. They start here in 1716 and stop in 2001. The 1900's don't start until the second to last stone. While still a dangerous occupation it is much safer than it used to be. The Nighthawk resting quietly as I walk around the memorial.

There are so many great shots I could have taken on my run up but I just didn't feel like pulling over. Sorta in the zone today. Besides when it greens up a bit I'll take another journey.

Very Cool! Was that the statue they showed in "The Perfect Storm"?

Could be Ari, not completely certain. The barber did tell me that tourists like to go up to Gloucester and stop in the Crow's Nest, the bar shown in the movie. Apparently it is still a very rough place and not tourist friendly.

Great report - thanks. Man, your helmet is cool. Real Cool.
A "bucket list" trip for SOQS and I is to fly to Boston, rent a car, and do the Fall Foliage all over New England. Since she is a school teacher, we will likely have to wait until she retires.
That movie is one of my favs.

Thanks, I love that helmet. Light and comfortable too. A "bucket list" trip for SOQS and I is to fly to Boston, rent a car, and do the Fall Foliage all over New England. Since she is a school teacher, we will likely have to wait until she retires.
