"Aging is inevitable. Maturing is an option!"

Loki came by my house about 8:00 am. I only had a 1/2 day, but I wanted to accomplish 3 things: 1. I wanted to try out my new National Cycle Street Shield EX and make sure it was adjusted properly. 2. I wanted to practice a little bit of twisty riding before the Rally - get a little more seat time since my low side accident. 3. I wanted to take a look at some swollen rivers to get a feel for the flooding taking place at this time. We ended up riding about 175 miles, under a cloudless sky. Weather was unseasonably cool this morning, about 63 degrees. Not much of a Ride Report, but I got all 3 objectives accomplished, and even a nice bonus. Loki and I rode to Melville, Louisiana, and stopped at the Atchafalaya River there. The water there is already extremely high. Take a look at this picture I shot at the same location back on September 17, 2010. I was playing phototag. And now today The current is very fast. Loki has found himself a peninsula. Kodak moment to say the least. Highest water I've seen in my 45 years.

The Police would not let us get closer to the spillway gates that were opened today. I heard from N5TBU this morning, and he was heading to the Old River Lock. Perhaps we will hear from him as well. The Street Shield is 10 times better than the Spitfire. Solid as a rock. No wind on my chest, and just a light breeze on my helmet. Perfect. Loki and I rode a few twisty roads. I'm still a little cautious, but it's coming back. Back home, Loki and I part ways and thankfully, I didn't crash. I stopped at my local Honda shop to pick up some chain lube. To my surprise, they were having a vintage bike show - a nice bonus!!! So I snapped a few pics. Water Buffalo in pristine shape. I would love to own a V-max A Rebel without a cause. Nice shaving sink. How about a couple of nice Kawi triples? Laminar, thought you might find inspiration in this one. A Jimi Hendrick tribute triple!!

1937 Indian survivor. The owner kicked it over for me on the 2nd try. Idled like a sewing machine. And of course the Brits were representing as well. Nice red flake on this BSA tank. And old Vincent with exposed push rods. I like this Kenny Roberts edition RZ350 - it looks like it would be a blast to ride. I'm not familiar with this honda.

But this one is very familiar. It rightfully won best of show. Less than 5K original miles and absolutely immaculate. The owner rides it about 200 miles a year. Even the scooters were being shown. I think all of these are Cushmans. Not exactly a twisty bike, but very practical none the less. Anybody every heard of a Rickman? Some people came over to look at Ole Yella. One guy told me to never sell it. Seems he had one and wishes he still did. I told him mine was not for sale, at least not until after the rally. Good times.

Glad to see you're back in the saddle again HP! Nice classic bikes .. my brother and many of my friends in high school had Cushman's.
Your new windscreen looks pretty! I was wondering how close the flooding is to Lafayette ... will you see any effects locally?

Glad to see ya back on Ole Yella. Some great looking old bikes. The h20 buffalo looks much better than the 1 I posted here a few weeks ago. Looks like OY is ready for the Smoky Mt twisties.

Thanks for the replies. While I type this on my son's laptop, I am trying to fix virus problems on SOQS's computer. Why me? Mcafee found a couple, but none were malware/adware. I knew there were more, so I ran Malwarebytes. Yep - it found over 60 more. All removed, but now NO programs will start with a user account. Only administrator will work, and that's obviously not safe. I'm trying to avoid re-loading the O/S. Like I need this 3 days before my trip.

Virus' fixed. I ended up: 1. Backing up all data (Sync-toy is great) 2. Deleting my user account that would not load any apps. 3. Creating a new user account. 4. Grant permissions for my data files from my old account to my new. 5. Re-run Mcafee and Malwarebytes on the whole pc to verify no viruses/malware/adware. 6. Popped a I was wondering how close the flooding is to Lafayette ... will you see any effects locally? Thankfully, we will not. Lafayette's water drains into a seperate river basin. We are serving in a supportive role, manning shelters, FEMA staging, etc. I hear the swamp critters are running out way heading for high ground. Hmmmmm - swamp critters are tasty.

You know the difference between a Cajun zoo and a regular zoo? Regular zoos have a sign that says what the animal is, where it comes from and some interesting facts. Cajun zoos have a sign that says what the animal is, how to catch it and a recipe on how to cook it.

A little envious of your ability to get Cajun food whenever you like! Can be hard to find here in Cali.

What a stellar post Mr. Pants! Extremely entertaining. We have got to ride together someday!
Has LOKI had any luck job hunting?
I like that Vincent. I guess they were quite the bad mother back in the day.
What a diverse showing of scooters. Tasty.
