Hello Im trying to get my wifes 95 honda night hawk running but its causing me a lot of headaches.  I have cleaned out the carbs really well, and when I was testing them I poured gas into the top of them and tried starting the bike.  Well it actually did run a bit but there was a ton of gas in the air box and I had to sit down and figure out why that was happening but I figured it out, it was because I was putting gas into the tops of them.  Now Im trying to get the fuel from the tank, through the clear in-line filter that I installed and into the carbs but it will not come out of the tank.  I took the vacuum tube from the petcock off of the secondary side of the carbs and sucked on it to create a vacuum and the fuel started to flow, but not enough to get the bike to start.  Why dont I have suction on the secondary side of my carbs?

Your inline fuel filter could be the culprit. Have you cleaned the screen on top of the petcock that sits up in the tank?

Aye, these bikes tend to not like online fuel filters.  Try running a fuel line straight through, from petcock to carbs.

If you want to preload the carbs, just pour a bit of fuel directly into the fuel hose (the one that won't have a fuel filter in it anymore).
