Look at that -- just a few days in and he's already going all Zen-and-the-Art on us.

Great ride; I'm jealous.

A short ride yesterday.  A late start and frequent breaks.   Wawa to Thunder Bay. (sounds better if you say Tunder Bay).  For prarie dogs, it would have been pretty.   Rolling foot hills and 60 year old trees don't really inspire me,  I grew up in BC, where real mountains and old growth trees are not uncommon.

Sure I saw some moose, and I do love them, and yes the traffic was next to nil, and yes the hawk was purring like a kitten in  fresh litter, and yes my heart was not thrilled.

A few meters from here, train tracks skirt the bay,  about a kilometer out the breakwater dampens the waves and beyond that ships taking pulp to china.

I suppose, I'm not thrilled about my destination.  This ride is 2500km to short. I have not seen the Pacific ocean or the mountains that meet its shores in nearly a decade. My destination is equidistant  from what I love most in this world, my wife and kids and the northwest coast.

A rain storm is brewing outside.  It hasn't started yet, but it's coming. And I need to saddle up.

I'm here. My destination.  Did about 800km yesterday and finished her off. The beauty dwindled to a long straight stretch maybe 50km or more.  Straight, flat, no trees in sight and a constant cross wind.

Had to go right through downtown to get to my barrack block.   Going from a quiet two lane highway to a busy six lane downtown core was actually kind of nice.   Yes there were idiot caters, but I liked the stop and go.

Im pretty sure I need to do a valve adjustment now. I think it can wait though.   The old girl was sounding a little tired last night.

First some breakfast.

I've started to unpack und settle in to my barracks.  Thankfully I have a single room!  On the flip side, I did not bring my cable for my camera so pictures will have to wait until I return home in September.

I adjusted my valves today in the parking lot of a local shop, the license plate here says "Friendly Manitoba" and is that ever true.  My job took at least an hour longer than it should have due to the people stopping to chat it up.   Very nice.

I was warned however that the cops in this town have it in for motorcycle riders.  Tickets for everything, stops for no reason, and all kinds of BS.  I have been warned.

What kind of cable? Let me know and I will send you one if it will get us the pics of your trip sooner.

Cheers,

If the camera is a Canon, I have several extra cables laying around. I also think I have an extra Sony cable somewhere around here. Let me know if either might work for you. I'd be happy to send it to you for nothing.
