Hello, I just got an 83 450, I and have a few questions. The bike was given to me by a friend that was cleaning his yard and he just wanted it gone.  It was running when he parked it, But the gas tank has a hole in it. I found a 550 tank, {100 bucks}would it be the same? I'm going to see about getting it running for my wife to ride. His ex busted all the lights out of the bike, busted the lenses on the instruments, both mirrors. But still, I have nothing invested right now, so it seems like something fun to fix up and gain a riding partner as well. biker_h4h1
 Thanks for any help.

 welcome  welcome to the Forum.

I will not be able to tell ya 450 vs 550. My thought was to use a temporary tank from something else to get it running and see what you have before spending too much money. A tank from a lawnmower, snowblower, tractor, your motorcycle with a longer hose etc. If that helps great.

Thanks for the tip. I had already thought of that, but was still curious,

If it's just a small hole in the tank,  patch it with JB Weld.
